NBA Off Topic Thread
All I know is that last one sounds good until a player, especially a star player sits out an important game due to “Mental Health Recovery” and then folks will really lose their ****.
Basketball Discourse is already bad now, involve Mental Health and it’s gets downright ugly from there.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 09-19-2022, 01:11 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
In theory it sounds great, but I feel like it could be abused. Depression and anxiety are real diagnosable things. If someone is unhappy with their situation on a team and claims "mental health," that can't count, right? Guys would for sure use it to take a mid-season break a la Kyrie.Comment

And instead of load management, guys can abuse it and say it's a mental health day. How are you gonna prove it otherwise?
Another part of the new deals involve possible stricter penalties, or a whole new system for the luxury tax.
I don't think there's a single league that has the absolute best system when it comes to caps. NHLs hard cap has anchored the big market teams and the league from growing, MLBs luxury tax doesn't seem to impact the likes of the Dodgers or Yankees ever, while teams who never spend are given the green light, and the NBAs isn't the best either.
I wouldn't mind a combination of what we have all over.
Have a cap floor like hockey has, but have a luxury tax like NBA and MLB has, except make it stricter for teams who continually go over. Although I've never been a fan of all these other rules in basketball like bird rights, MLE and all these other things.Last edited by Majingir; 09-19-2022, 04:43 PM.Comment

So what if you’re going over to sign your own guys, such as guys you’ve drafted/developed Do you believe those teams should be penalized?
And I believe there is a cap floor in the NBA if I’m not mistaken.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 09-19-2022, 06:01 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

He was getting some pressure from the minority owners I know, and he has players talking about zero tolerance and stuff not happy with his punishment.
Sounds like a win for the league though. Seems he’s a piece of **** human.Comment

I suspect Silver gave him a call and said something like, "we could go through this process and keep putting pressure on you publicly, or you could just sell on your own and make it easier."Comment
