Man I wish lakers would just trade Westbrook should have happened like 3 months ago. People want to say its not all his fault but the problem is he and there draft picks are there only real trade value and trading Westbrook could get you at least 1 good shooter without really losing anything. How is added at least 1 good shooter to a team that can't shot not going to greatly improve the team? Turner and AD would give teams issues and Buddy can shoot make the trade already. NBA is maybe the deepest its ever been this year can't wait around and get into to much of a whole in the standings.

The issue with the Lakers making a trade is none of the “rumored” returns is going to fix them. Only options I see are absolutely nailing a multi-team move that gets them 3-4 impact guys, or massively rolling the dice on the deal that includes Gordon Hayward and hope he’s both healthy, close to his old self, and a good fit..
Buddy Hield can shoot but he’s not a high impact player. The Josh Richardson & McDermott idea does not move the needle. Even if Buddy was the best shooter to ever live the Lakers need more than 1 guy who can shoot, the defense would never leave him. It’s not like he’s going to be wide open in a corner all game long. Even if a Russ and Kyrie swap presented itself again just adding Kyrie to this team doesn’t change anything.
They have less playmakers now (with Russ out) than they didn’t in any of the years they “needed another playmaker”. Reaves might be the 2nd best one on the roster. So they don’t have playmakers, don’t have guys who move well off ball, don’t have shooters, don’t have a rim runner, don’t have guys who set big screens, don’t have offensive rebounders. It’s a long list of issues TBH.
Oddly enough Ham seemed to get hired simply because he was willing to put his foot down with Russ and players liked him. He’s seemingly not much different in terms of mindset than Vogel but might even been less creative on the offensive end than Frank was.. felt like I’ve watched 50 Lakers possessions that end in Reaves, JTA, Nunn, Walker isolations.
I will say, in their defense, they are playing solid defense, a lot of their shooting woes even without a trade will normalize at some point, and it’s only been 4 games played for a team that had no prior chemistry. I didn’t think losing game 1 to the defending champs for a team playing their 1st game together as a roster and with a new coach was anything to panic over. The Clippers and Blazers games were both easily winnable, some mistakes and poor shooting cost them.. tonight was the bad one. Regardless of fit not having Bryant, Dennis, and Russ is part of that. When you’re running Nunn isos, can’t bench Pat Bev when you need to, and relying on an Uber eats driver to hopefully give a couple minutes of shooting you aren’t gonna win many games.
Also Bron can’t hit a jumper to save his life right now and Anthony Davis moves and plays like he’s the one who’s 37 years old. You would/should expect the two of them to be a bit better moving forward regardless of what happens around them.
Regardless if the rumored Russ trades are all that’s out there then I feel like they also need to package away Nunn and Beverly and loop in another player too. Or just move those two for a shooter and keep trying with Russ and Dennis down the road.. Landing Buddy Hield and Myles Turner is only going to improve them marginally IMO. I’m not even sure if Ham would start Turner. Dennis is/was better for them and their needs than either of Pat or Nunn look to be, and Lonnie’s defense on smaller guards has been good enough to make Pat feel expendable. Feel like he would be a solid vocal presence on a team that needs that, but he’s the only other money-matcher they have.Comment

There’s just going to come a time at some point this year that the Lakers decide to wrap it up and fight for draft position. I don’t even think that’s too early to say. The only thing that can get them wins is LeBron rolling back 10 years but right now dude looks 37. He’s still playing at an elite level but he can’t dominate a game for 40 minutes like he used to
The question then is what the stars do. LeBron should pass Kareem this season but he can’t do that if he’s resting for the final few months of the season
My hot take, super picante, is that he gets traded to a contender when the Lakers decide to call it a day and they just collect as much draft capital and as many expiring contracts as they canComment

Lakers’ roster(or potential roster in a few months)isn’t any good as good as Lebron is, he’ll break Kareem’s scoring record and that’ll probably be the high point of their season. There ain’t no championship run in that team.
Nets need to go ahead and let Nash go and talk to Boston about bringing Udoka back asap.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 10-27-2022, 07:22 AM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Yep. This is the ultimate problem. Lakers don't have a lot of assets to make moves with. Their options or paths to improving the team are slim.
The WB trade basically cleared out their asset roll. The roster is trash and the best they can hope for is that some other team out there decides to burn their roster down and start fresh. In that scenario WB's expiring contract has value.
Don't sleep on a Beverly trade either. A playoff hopeful team could value him higher than others. Defensive minded players are huge for playoffs so could potentially fleece somebody closer to the deadline.Last edited by ggsimmonds; 10-27-2022, 07:35 PM.Comment

Must be speaking about his Basketball career because he was sorta like a coach on the court during his time in the league.

But, he jumped the coaching line. Nets put everything into creating this small championship window and they put it all on an unproven coach.Comment
