Swear he was responsible for half Ja’s points last year. Once he sets the screen he makes it so that man is never recovering. Ja is shifty as hell with the bounce to finish over anybody, but Adam’s is a huge reason he just lives in the paint the way he does.

Was also top of the league in offensive boards, and the Grizz lead the league in 2nd chance points because of it. Also a solid passer, and when you have a shooter like Bane his screens also have massive off ball benefits as well. And he’s not an elite rim runner like a Capela type, but you absolutely can’t leave him on the role. He can finish strong at the rim and also has a decent floater even when the clean dunk at the rim is taken away.

Not sure he would have the same benefit to other teams as he does Memphis but there were many nights last year he was their most important guy on the floor. Could credit lots of guys for how they stepped up, Bane, Tyus, Melton, but there is a reason they were so good whether Ja played or not. Adams was a huge chunk of that.

Dame gets the buzzer beater layup to end the half.

The way the Griz are built that Ja-Adams pick and roll is one of the toughest things to guard against. There's everything you said about Adams, but its also due to the other 3 guys. Who are you going to come off in order to help?

9 times out 10, the guy matched up with Adams is going to be your primary help defender. Griz love to run that action in order to attack the defender you are wanting to use to slow Ja down. If the defender drops to cut off Ja, Adams can roll to the basket. Rotate on that and the Griz have 3 shooters for Adams to find. I love some pick and fade action as much as the next guy but usually teams aren't going to have 5 legit scoring threats so if you run the pick and fade the defense will be fine leaving one of those 3 guys not involved in the PnR in order to help. But when you run that action with your smallest scoring threat it is putting the defense in a bind.

Its basically the same concept as running draws to the side of the defense's best pass rusher in football.

I was talking to a friend before the season began and he said a Kyrie-KD pick and roll should be the hardest thing to defend and I was trying to tell him thats BS cause I'm helping off of Ben to nip that in the bud. But a Kyrie-Ben PnR? That would be tougher. Because then you have a situation where KD can be a snake in the grass and that is something I don't want. (Nets still have people you can help off though so its not the same threat as Ja-Adams)

I didn’t mean for him to just not shoot all game lol..

Nuggets looking rough. Really hoped they would hit the ground running with MPJ and Murray back. Might take them awhile to figure it all out.

Kyrie isn’t really quite that type of guy anyways. Not saying there is anything wrong with that but Ja wants to attack first and foremost. The extra 2-3, 4, 5 lol dribbles Kyrie takes before he decides to do anything let’s his man recover, help come, and late on hitting some of the roles/kicks. Kyrie can create shots from nothing, and is one of the best difficult shot makers since Kobe, so it makes sense, but regardless of the guys around them that’s not really a 1 to 1 comparison in that sense.

Adams big body screens are hard to compare against a lot of guys too. He’s not really looking to leave early and slip or pop, he wants to make sure the man he screens is taken out of the play. Not a ton of bigs like that. JV is one, Horford and Green can do a good job at times too. Nets don’t have that type, even if Ben and Claxton are much bigger threats running to the rim. We’ve already seen some nasty Claxton rolls to the rim early this season.

Kyrie's overdribbling does more harm than good. Yeah it makes for some good youtube videos but it is not conductive to good offense.

Adams is an old school big for sure. There's still a place for them in today's NBA, they just gotta hustle and be able to get up and down the floor

What's makes it worse is that they are up 2 with 26 secs left in the game and doing that. It's one thing if they were losing lol.

If it wasn't for Gordon's salary making a trade harder, I'm all for Morey continuing the Philadelphia Rockets theme and trading for him

Great start facilitating from CJ. BI and Zion will rightly get a lot of the attention in that team but McCollum has been a great second option now for seven or eight years and his passing has taken a jump in the last couple years. Very efficient and intelligent player man. I’m very biased because he’s from Canton but he’s awesome

I agree too. I miss him in Portland for my guys, but yeah he’s been very vocal on the floor, and that is much needed to these younger cats for sure.
