I have no mixed feelings about this whatsoever. And it puzzles me that the majority of Knicks fans are completely bent out of shape about losing Divo.
I get the nostalgia, good story, Nova bros., etc. But that stuff doesn’t win chips. Great for chemistry and the locker room for sure.
But once the Knicks acquired Mikal, Divo was expendable.
I think people are dismissing this fact simply because we haven’t seen Mikal on the floor yet with this team. He’s a huge upgrade defensively and can still space the floor and create his own shot.
As for Randle, he is who he is and it would take a huge concession for him to change his game for the type of play we need.
He’s too-ball dominant when we’re already have a ball dominant PG. And with Mitch out until probably February, I cringed at Randle trying to play Center for an extended period of time.
Randle has only been good every other year for some strange reason and he’s still not even fully healthy to play.
Very strange roster in Minny. A Randle/Gobert front court is a disaster waiting to happen.
Towns- off rip I hate the contract and his knees.
But he fills an immediate need, spaces the floor properly, and doesn’t need the ball to be effective.
I think the Knicks upgraded. I think they’re better today than they were at the end of last season health aside.
Fair trade for both teams but I think Minny should flip Randle. Naz Reid is a better fit for them IMO.
