Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread

The Suns are so much like the Mavs in recent years. That's why, despite the disappointing loss to the Suns, I feel so much more optimistic about the Mavs since they changed their makeup to a more conventional team. A full year under a defensive-minded coach like Avery Johnson will help.

The way the Suns play doesn't work if you want to win a championship. The Mavs and Kings already proved it. It got both to conference finals, but not to the finals, and certainly not to a championship.

Not neccesarily true. in 2002, if it werent for the kings choking under the pressure, They would have won the title that year. But they played more D that year than any other, and had great depth, so obviously you have to be deep, and must play some D to win.

            Tell me how he isn't?

            Is he Clutch?Yes

            Does he play Defense?Yes

He's driven into the lane with no fear and has made so many spectacular plays. He's averaging over 21 ppg in the playoffs. He's come off the bench to help his team and no complain. Please tell me how he should be considered as being a top swingman in the NBA.I'll take him over the likes of Melo and Hughes and probably even Paul Pierce. He brings it night in night out on both ends.

Like I've said in this thread, few can match this guy's craftiness toughness and intensity in a game.

The problem here is you guys would be better off not attacking Kashanova for his post and concentrate on the post at hand.

If you dont believe he has his facts together refute his post instead of asking him insulting questions.

He answered that was asked, now show him why he's wrong, but the personal attacks just arent right.

MIAMI -- Heat center Shaquille O'Neal limped for more than half of Game 1 on Monday night.
But he insists that his bruised right thigh won't stop him from playing in tonight's Game 2 at AmericanAirlines Arena. O'Neal did not practice Tuesday, instead monitoring things from the sidelines.

O'Neal took only three shots in the fourth quarter, coinciding with the Pistons' increased defensive pressure. He said there's a way to counteract that.
"Just get me the ball," he said. "Get it in to me. Tired or not, bring it in to me. I should have had the ball more."
                So it begins......
When would shaq learn??? Before he concerntrates on defense and keeping the Wallaces' of the boards.....sigh....to bad for Miami

Thank God they traded this guy.

If you watched the game objectively, you would be saying the same thing. Also, every commentator has said the same since game 1 finished. You have to get the ball into the hands of the most dominant player, period.

ANd Ginobli is an elite player, he proved that this past summer, he is just backing it up now.

Dont get me wrong here bro, I love Giniobili. I've loved his play since they whipped the US into pieces in the Olympics. I'd even agree with you about the Melo, PP thing.

Manu has played team basketball in the Argentinian league, so sure, he's got no problem with being a team player. I absolutley love that. I dont have a thing against Manu, I dont care how people try to discredit his play, I'd take him without question.

However, I'd hardly call 21ppg, and chipping in as a role player ELITE. I think this word is being taken far out of context here.

Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'neal, Kevin Garnett, etc... are guys considered Elite. Those are #1 options on the team considered unstoppable forces. Dominating MVP candidates consistently and lock HOF's.

Again, Manu is a VERY GOOD ball player, but elite guard, you're putting him in the class to the Tmac's and Kobe's and I dont think he's close.

He also said that Wade just missed shots and that it wasn't the Pistons defense that caused it. This guy still cant accept it and he also can't give credit to anyone. And then he gets pissed when people don't kiss his ***. LMAO

He's not in the class of the KG's and Timmy D's and Macs and Kobe's of the world, however, he has shown me in the playoffs that he's one of the better all around players in this league. He's been extremely clutch and has played great defense. All this while not getting many FT attempts if I recall.

I disagree in saying he's a role player though.Role players are guys like Horry and Bowen. They have a defined role.Bowen is a defender and a damn good one.Horry is a guy who stands on the perimeter and hits clutch shots while adding some much needed length, defense and being able to cover many players in pick and rolls or switches.Manu is a guy IMO that caN be a focal point cause he's not one dimensional. He can create, shoot and he gets to the line. And Pop gives him the freedom to do so.

Maybe I went overboard with the "elite" comment, but there is no doubt in my mind that this guy is should be considered when talking about top 6-7 swingmen in the game.

I don't think you went overboard at all. The playoffs is where players make a name for themselves and besides Nash and Wade previously, who has played better than Manu? He has been incredible and I see no reason why he isn't an "elite" guard.
