Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread

Well, if I choose to be a Conspiracy Theorist, the League doesn't want the Pistons/Spurs in the Finals for many reasons:

    - D v D is not good for the Sportscenter/And1 mentality of today's youth
    - If the Pistons don't repeat, people can call it proof that last year was a fluke and use it to pump the Lakers back up
    - Pistons have no Superstars - The Spurs are an OK choice because they have Duncan and Tony Parker brings that Housewife chick to game - But the league would rather have Shaq, Wade, the kids in PHX, and the MVP.
    - No Suns would leave some to question Nash's award
    - Detroit is not an attractive city for TV
    - What does Stern say to the fans of Detroit if the Pistons win again in light of the brawl? Does he still call them the "best fans in the NBA"?

    BUT....

I'm not a Conspiracy guy....so people need to get use to the idea of Detroit v San Antonio and deal with it.

I hope the refs dont have anything up their shelves, for an' EXCITING' finals

I thought basketball was about pure basketball, not who can attract what crowd and what amount of money/media attention.

Clay: if that's the case, then this nba season will be the last nba season I will ever watch.

        Again, I said I wasn't a conspiracy theorist....

BUT... if you thought the NBA was about pure basketball, than I have some news for you about Santa Claus... The NBA is a business first and foremost. It hasn't been about pure basketball in decades.

I can totally understand about the nba being about business and I believe that it is. I just hate it when money gets ahead of real basketball, it shouldn't happen regardless. Ah what the heck, I dislike the media anyway, why do I even bother watching the nba.

I do believe that there could be conspiracy and it's just a conspiracy, nothing truthful as of yet. I've been saying it for the past year here, but obviously it's not fact, just a thought.

The Pistons frustrate people because they come at you in swarms. That can get very frustrating for young players. Frustrated players take bad shots.

Wade is going to be just fine.

            But...so are the Pistons.

I think he should be knocked down a peg, only because he was too high to begin with coming in the series. He played great against Washington and New Jersey, no doubt, but how much credit should one get for playing well against a no.8 and no.5 seed? Dwayne Wade is a great player no doubt. But the people that were anointing him as the next Jordan, and saying he already passed Kobe Bryant just got too far ahead of themselves. For one, he needs to get a 3 pt. shot, because unless he becomes the greatest mid-range shooter ever, he won't get a lot of points efficiently against teams like the Pistons without one.

This is the first time in forever that I've seen any team shut down Dwyane Wade.

Did you see the last Pistons/Heat game in the regular season??? Last night was an offensive showcase for him compared to that game!

Yes, I've seen the man play. He said himself and the doctors have said that when Joe wants to play, he can play. I think it's b/c of mask issues though, not the actual incident.

A Bulls fan questioning a conspiracy....WOW! Did you ever wonder how come Michael Jordan could foul other players and not get called for it, yet anytime anyone acted like they were going to contest a shot of his it was a foul. And then he always ended up taking 15-20 FT a game.

The excuse the people always used was, "well he's a superstar so hes gonna get those calls."

Conspiracies in the NBA are somewhat real but just not obvious to everyone.

Look at the Kind vs Lakers in 2002. Kings fans were ready to riot after some of those calls and lack of calls in that series

that was a foul though. Nash didn't even keep his position. I know that Manu over-emphasizes a lot of his fouls, but most of the time he DOES get fouled.

Oh and Marion flopped when Mohammed went up for a shot.

                              stop whining..

we know it happens. It gets old quick the matrix.

I dont whine here about steve nash and the way he travels sometimes... I dont because it HAPPENS, not just by him. You dont see me here whining about Amare JUMPING into opponents trying to get the FOUL! Because it happens, by a lot of players... Single out Ginobili all you want, but it looks like nagging and bitterness especially now that the spuirs are playing your team.... your complaints have only risen, yet ginobili has done this all year. Why is that?

Where were the nugget fans complaining about ginobili?
