Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
Does Manu Ginobli annoy anyone else? I'm sick of seeing him constantly fall down after every single shot. He has taken Vlade Divac's crown as the flopper king of the nba.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
Yes, JMood. I've now coined him "Flopobili". He's awesome, except for his Oscar performances.
Remix, we play good defense when we want to. Stop discrediting that, please. In the regular season (yes, I know it doesnt matter), we were around the top 1/3rd in many defensive catagories.Comment

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
It's tough to say that the main reason they lost was because of the flops and the bailouts. It's tough because you gotta look at the fact if some of those calls were "turning points" in the game.
Not sure who to really blame. I didnt catch most of the game. Just the last 4 minutes. Going by that alone, defense won the game, and bad plays by Hunter.Comment

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
So what if he flops.
I hate how people can have just pure hate for another person. Does it make him less of a player in your opinion? You can practically say the same thing about karl malone and his excessive use of elbows and rodman getting away with the small cheapshots he got away with while fighting for a rebound.
I'm just trying to evaluate why there;s hate. Hate to just another him, or does it really affect the game? Do you feel it's unneeded and he's bad for the game by the way he plays?
He can't score 39 points all on flops, now can he? There's obviously talent in the player. But IMO, I call jumping into a player just to get a foul just as bad as the flopping you see from ginobili.. you play the game and try to have that edge over your opponentLast edited by RubenDouglas; 05-22-2005, 06:45 PM.Comment

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
not at all. but to me it sounds like all the people hating the way he flops are downplaying his actuall basketball ability. Is the flopping that bad to where you can say he's **** without being back by the refs? Maybe the hates warranted if you feel that way. either way i respect your opinions

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
flops, travels, elbows, cheap shots, complaining, getting superstar treatment = welcome to the NBA.
I don't think it's fair to call out only Manu in this area of flopping. I think you guys are just looking at especially because you've seen him flop a few times here and there. If you check out the rest of the nba, there are flops everywhere and even by the best of them.
Not only do nba players flop, a lot of them hide in the key for 50 seconds, take 15 steps to the basket (*cough* shaq *cough*), complain for a foul on every possession (...kobe...), constantly foul (fortson, mark madsen), hook players, fart on players, take a dump on the court, you name it.
Since most of the nba is garbage IMO, I can care less if Manu flops. It doesn't affect or add to his amazing talent that he really already has had.
Now I don't wanna just support the spurs here or say that spurs are getting the calls they want. I will agree that the Refs are horrible in the NBA and that is my opinion. They aren't just giving it to one team, it seems as if there's some kinda conspiracy with the refs, at least that's what I think.Comment

Does it really affect the game? Yes.
Do you feel that it is unneeded? Yes.

Can't score 39 by flopping? No, you can not. He is very talented, but that doesn't mean I can't dislike him for flopping.Comment

im not defending the guy buy sometimes people are prone to "huge" reactions on getting bumped... either that or maybe he's not that strong and gets tossed around, but it looks like excessive "movement or a flop"Comment

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
It's not about him being less of a player.......it just ruins the integrity of the game. It pretty much IS cheating, except the refs arent picking up on it. Flopping is a sign of dirty, unclean play, and nothing anyone can say will convince me otherwise.
Is Ginobili bad ***? Yes......however, he needs to cut the flopping if he wants some respect. That is flat out garbage right there.
I'm not blaming the loss on flopping or bad calls...however it doesnt help the cause. We lost b/c the Spurs played better than us, simple as that. But dont go and tell me that flopping or bad calls have nothing to do with the loss or dont change the integrity of the game.
All the damn international players flop, it seems. Some domestic ones too (Bowen, Horry, Fisher, Fox, Kobe, etc)....but it's as if the international players picked up flopping from their damn soccer or something.
BE A MAN AND PLAY!
Oh...and I have a few other comments. I thought there was a 3 in the key rule in effect in the NBA? It sure didnt seem like it today and it sure hasnt seemed like it for years it seems. I cant believe how many 3 in the key's werent called today. It's downright ridiculous how long players were camping out.
Also, there were so many traveling offenses that were uncalled, it was sickening to watch. Duncan traveled MORE than a few times, so did Parker and Ginobili, and I only recall one called on Duncan later on in the game. Pathetic.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 05-22-2005, 08:39 PM.Comment
