Some news outlets are reporting that the sale didn't happen yet, too.

Man, tough loss tonight against Indiana, but Greg Monroe was awesome. 27 pts, 12 rebs, just a great game for him. I'm so glad Golden State passed on him, I jumped for joy on draft night when they chose Udoh.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Too bad I missed the game, I really like Monroe and think he can become a solid big man.
I liked it how in the Rookie Challenge game, everyone was busy dunking and having fun, but Monroe was busy rebounbding and helping his team.My Specs:

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
Almost all of Monroe's points came from 2nd chance buckets. I love him right now lol, grabs the offensive boards and just puts it back through the hoop.
edit: McGrady was solid too, 16 pts 12 ast I think, plus 5 rebsWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
I like Monroe a lot - I guess most 'Stones fans do at this point, but I will say I thought he was a good pick and even when he was playing limited minutes early in the season, he seemed to have a lot of tools. He's versatile and passes well for a big-guy, and seems to work hard: always a winning trait in D-town. I think he's someone that can be part of a good team, once we straighten out this ownership mess and get some semblance of a rudder on the ship again...Comment

Another year, another 0 moves at the deadline. Dumars continues to disappoint. Maybe a new owner will mean a new GM and coach.Comment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
It would've been nice to get rid of all the fat and tank the rest of the way to make a play for number one for Irving. Would be nice to know we had some direction and got rid of the logjams.
This is like a death march, and I can't wait for the day Dumars and company are run out of town for how they've mismanaged the organization during its silver age.Comment

Have faith, 'Stones fans...I think it's gonna get darker before we see light again, but I've now been through 3 clear droughts/downturns in the franchise's history, and each time we have emerged from the wilderness. Hell, I remember being excited about Kelly Tripucka just prior to Jack McCloskey's acquisition of Isiah and the rest of the legendary Pistons, and we all know how that worked out. The only big question mark for me is the ownership issue, because we were blessed for decades with the steady/loving hand of Bill Davidson (for my money, the best owner in Detroit sports history) and who knows if the next guy, be it Gores or whoever, is going to have the same irrational love for the franchise? But, barring a total uncaring Donald Sterling-esque A-hole, I think we'll find our way back. It just might get grimy along the way...
EDIT: BTW, I think the greediest person in the Pistons organization at this point is Karen Davidson...she is, to me, Pistons' fan enemy #1. Her steadfast refusal to acknowledge that it isn't 2005 and NBA franchise values are not what they were valued at then (if those valuations were ever even accurate, which I doubt heavily in the wake of the ratings agencies' complete botching of the subprime mortgage-backed security ratings) is dragging out the team sale and scaring off potentially good/interested buyers. I mean, she and her family already have more money than 10 generations can ever spend, and when you factor in that the next buyer is probably buying Palace Sports Entertainment in addition to the team, she will make, at worst, in excess of $200 million dollars. I'm not saying she should low-ball herself, but even Illitch was saying she's got her head in the clouds with where she thinks the team/Palace Sports is valued. All the while, the team is just sitting there, rotting on the vine, with no ability to do anything until we get this ownership issue straightened out. As much as Bill loved the Pistons, she just doesn't care, and is over the course of the past year and a half doing her darndest to un-do what it took decades for her husband to build. It's frickin' sad as hell to watch unfold.Last edited by pietasterp; 02-25-2011, 02:34 AM.Comment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
I'm not sure I blame this all on Dumars...obviously he hasn't made the right moves recently, but we have been hand-cuffed the last 2 seasons by the ownership limbo, and it's made it hard for us to do anything since we haven't had a clear concept of what our financial situation is and what kind of commitments we can make. Dumars is still the guy that was instrumental in building the team that went to 6 straight Eastern Conference Finals and won a title, so it's tough to toss him due to the recent strife. Rebuilding is always painful, but it's necessary and usually looks ugly whilst going through it. And it isn't always easy to trim all the fat, since in the NBA, there are at least 10 other teams trying to do the same thing at any time. I think we have been trying to dump commitments, it just isn't easy into finding someone willing to take on cash/commitments in the prelude to what is almost certainly a lock-out and new CBA.

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
The thing was, it was rumored that the owners cleared the movement of Rip in that one three way deal. So I think they could have made a move. Now we just have another year of decline, with a top 10 pick, but probably not top 3...Comment

This is getting so crazy lol. I mean 5-7 guys skipped practice/shootaround so Kuester benches them all. I love the balls Kuester showed with the move but he basically gave the game away. So much drama on this team, yet I can't look awayWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment
