Re: 2006-2007 New York Knicks: Explosion or Implosion

The Knicks have actually been somewhat tolerable to watch so far this year, they move the ball much better than last year and are playing with a little more zip in their step - even though they still can't rebound or defend.

I'll probably watch a majority of their games this year at least, unless they resort back to last year's mentality as a team. As long as they keep playing hard and relatively unselfish I'll watch 'em.

Tonight will be a challenge, as the Spurs are coming to town.

Ideally Marbury is able to turn it around, as they will need him against a very tough Spurs team.

Tonight will be rough. Huge challenge for Eddie going up against Duncan. Hopefully whoever is assigned to Parker can contain him.

The obvious question is: why hasn't Balkman gotten more minutes?

Granted against Atlanta, Joe Johnson would've probably ate him up but at least give him a different look.

Balkman had the size to stay with Stephen Jackson against Indy and the quickness to hit the boards. We (read Eddy Curry) seem to give up so many offensive rebounds it's a joke.

Balkman needs more minutes. Robinson needs more minutes. Crawford needs less minutes. It's clear as day.

He or Steve needs to stick with Parker something I doubt neither of them can do.

Well the Knicks win. 2-3 with surprisdingly more wins than admittedly better teams Mavs, Nuggets, and my favorite Western Conference team, the Suns

Amazing fourth quarter by Crawford. Weird how he can look so bad the first four games and then look great last night. David Lee is still our best rebounder. 23 mintues and he has 11 points and 10 boards. Frye is having a rough start. Hopefully he can rebound. When he misses a couple shots he passes up a couple and then rushes his next few. Eddy Curry still looks like the same player as last year. Quick to get into foul trouble, lazy to rebound and on the defensive end, and slow to make his move on the offensive end.

Some thoughts regarding last night's game against the Nuggets:

Channing Frye looks mediocre. So does Marbury. Aside from playing poorly, he appears to be afraid to shoot the ball. He hit a big three late, but other than that, he was a non-factor IMO.

I still have no idea why they signed Cato.

Crawford had an impressive night, and literally kept the Knicks in it in the closing minutes.

Carmelo had a nice night, and I really enjoyed the Boynkins/Robinson match-up while it lasted.

Eddy Curry was a disappointment, and a non-factor.

Crawford was absolutely on fire at the end. The redemption for his turnover and resulting three at the end was bonkos.

I also think Walt Frazier is a fantastic commentator. I love how he gets into the game, and the big words he throws out expand my own vocabulary every night.

Ultimately, it was a hell of a win. I can't help but feel that the Knicks stole the win, but they played lights out at the end.

Walt has a monotone delivery, that is why he gets a bad pub. I prefer him to the yelling and screming of a Dickie V.

                        Clyde gets bad pub?

I guess I haven't learned my lesson yet w. this team, I shut the game off and went to bed last night w. 10 minutes left in the 4th.

A win is a win is a win.

However, the problem with Crawford going ballistic like that is that he feels he'll be able to do that every game.

The game winning shot was amazing. However, it was a bad shot. A horrible shot with the amount of time remaining, the distance he shot it from and his shrug off his other teammates.

Again, I'm happy for the win and unrealistically wish that in a perfect world, Crawford doesn't throw up 25PPG but has a consistent jumper for the rest of the season.

And I'll repeat myself, Balkman is a beast. He had a block on Andre Miller's early layup attemp that was Tayshaun Prince-esque. David Lee with minutes will be a stathog. No doubt about it.

Also, Channing Frye has played like this since the summer leagues. Someone suggested that his extra bulk might be hindering him. His confidence is definitely shot. On a positive note though, Malik Rose has been excellent. The way he played against Tim Duncan the other night was absoluetly perfect.

I agree 100% on both statements.

Crawford is like that one awful guy at your local gym who makes one shot at the start of pick-up and thinks he's gonna sink everyone for the rest of the night.

Second, the shot was definitely AWFUL. I'm glad I wasn't watching it live because I would have thrown something at my TV. There was a great opportunity for a bounce pass and a layout to one of his teammates. The only thing I can think of is that he lost track of time in his head and just rushed the shot up there. Still, that's a problem in its own right.

                              Brace yourself...
In the post game interview, Jamal said he knew how much time was left on the clock but he felt he was "hot" since he hit a few 3s before that.

What a boring game so far tonight.

Marbury just had a horribly lazy pass which resulted in a turnover, and the Knicks are down 9.
