Re: 2006-2007 New York Knicks: Explosion or Implosion

Some thoughts after the Celtics loss:

Eddy Curry... please stop standing around. You look terrible, and when you take shots, at least make an effort to aim them. You remind me of Grimace in a uniform.

Jamal Crawford... You are not Reggie Miller. Stop shooting like you are. Yes, you make dramatic shots, but I can heave up 30 shots and make 10 of them.

Stephon Marbury... If it's not the shoes, you flat out suck so far.

Steve Francis had a solid night compared to his peers. The Knicks started strongly, but faded by the second half. By the end, they looked terrible. And yet, they still had flashes of excitement.

I thought it was amusing when Patrick Ewing showed up and the crowd went nuts.. I thought they had stopped the game for a second, but then saw someone was shooting FT's.

Of the Knicks players, Eddy Curry is the most frustrating to me. He just stands around, and is often out hustled for balls he has superior positioning on. I can deal with Crawford heaving up shots, because he does make some of them. But Curry just frustrates me.

I've noticed Nate Robinson gets a little shot happy also, but given his work ethic and general impressiveness, I am fine with him taking more shots. If anything, it prevents Crawford from heaving up more.

Why does Jamal Crawford just not give a ****? Why does he just not care?

I hate to use the word "hate" but he's coming really close to it.

Who in the world does he think he is? 3 on 1 and he just says F it and chucks one up or drives into the lane for his stupid runner?

      And Isaiah leaves him in.

Eddy Curry pisses me off...but Jamal Crawford gives hurts my head.

It's hard to be a fan of this team. Real hard.

Re: 2006-2007 New York Knicks: Explosion or Implosion

Thing with Curry is he has never amounted to anything. He always stands around and no matter what he says every offseason everyone knows he's going to do more of the same the following season.

Crawford, however, is extremely frustrating. I can't think of any other player in the league that can score 30 points and look terrible doing it. The thing with Crawford is he has shown promise. He has his moments where he'll stand on the corner and wait for the outlet pass to hit the corner three. He has good ball handling skills and can drive to the basket and hit his free throws. He can do all of those things.

Problem is, he does it all TOO MUCH! At least with Nate Robinson, he is somewhat in control - as out of control he looks at times. Nate has this uncanny ability to draw defenders to him when he drives, squeeze out of that defense, and even if he misses the shot (which ends up being a pretty decent one, although not always very good) there is a teammate on the blocks ready to tip the ball in (thank you David Lee).

Crawford just looks like a mess all the time. And he's predictable.

Here's a one answer survey for Knick fans.

"If Crawford gets the ball on the top of the key and dribbles between his legs three times in a row, what does he do next?"

        a) Shoots a high-arching, fadeaway shot with the defender in his face.

        Choose wisely.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

          b) Does a blatant Hot Sauce crossover and gets called for Carrying/Palming.

          c) Looks off all of his teammates on the court and his coach

            haha, so true.

Ok, so I know this is a stretch and I'm in no way comparing him to one of the best players in the league (well, ok, maybe I'm comparing a bit)...

But, does anyone else think that with some discipline and direction, Nate Robinson can be very Allen Iverson-like?

Now, I'm really only looking at their inside game. Putting their body through damage at will and somehow getting a shot up against bigger defenders. Nate does this well. I sometimes wonder if he can be a 25ppg player if he started and took more shots.

He seems like a really cool, down to earth dude though. With so much negativity surrounding his pick, I'm not surprised he is. He handled it well.

If he had the green light, yes.

I'm sure you've caught every game so far this year, and although it's early, Nate has been lights out as far as shooting goes. I haven't looked at what he's shooting percentage-wise, but I know he's doing well. Especially from 3. He has improved so much from last season with his shot. I think his shortness helps him on jumpers because he gets so much elevation on his shot and you know when you release a jumper at your highest point, it has a better chance of going in. Just look how much air he gets on those pull up FT line jumpers he has been taking.

And he can get by any PG in the league.

Nate's problem has been finishing and defending.

He's a great finisher. But there are times when he goes up and he doesn't have that extra "umpf" to make the shot fall on layups. Or he'll simply get bodied by a big. He hasn't been so quick to get up this year as opposed to last year when he gets hit.

And the reason he may not get 25PPG is because he's a liability on defense. He's a ballhawk. However, he's easy to score on. And he doesn't seem to mind this as long as he can get his own shot on the other end. That being said, no coach, not even Isaiah, cannot leave him out on the floor for long stretches in a close game because they'll just go back-and-forth. So I can't see him logging major minutes in a close game.

Incredible potential. And an incredible draft by Isaiah last year. I'm so happy with Frye, Nate, Lee, Balkman and Collins. Hopefully by the time we get those insane contracts off the books, we can lock up these guys for some years.

Another game tonight where we play terrible for the first 42 minutes, good for the next 4 minutes to make it seem like we have a chance, and then can't finish the comeback in the last 2 minutes.

The Balkman pick will never be a good pick because the Knicks could have taken him with their 2nd pick, but he can play. He was doing everything tonight.

Marbury didn't take one shot all game, and spent almost the entire 2nd half sulking on the bench. He's playing like Starbury now I guess.

Marbury wasnt in the game mentally, he didn't even cheer on his teammates.

                      Who's questioning Larry Brown now?

Starbury, Marbury, Stephon, whoever the ****...he's a freakin' loser.

Larry Brown was still a problem.

No one's questioning the coaches here.

Steph needs to know when to run the offense and when to take over. As a PG, there's no need for him to rely on the coach to tell him when to go.

He's just an incredibly stubbon and selfish player.

To watch him not cheer on the bench last night was shameful. Sucks that he has absolutely no trade value unless a playoff contender loses their on PG due to injury.

The guy is a career 20 ppg, 8 ast player. He isn't even putting up half those numbers.

I've always given Marbury the benefit of the doubt when people called him a selfish, spoiled, coach and moral killer.......no more. After watching that pathetic 0'fer and his pouting for a coach that believs in him......jeesh.

He's a d1ckhead and no cheaply priced shoes will change my opinion of him. Always liked the cat, since Lincoln, G Tech, Minny, Pho, NJ, and NY......I hope he busts his ankle on those generic looking skippies he is peddling so NYK could apply for a injury exemption and try and fill his spot on the roster. Cant trade the bum....ZERO value. Isiah should trade his a$$ to Treviso Benetton or CSK Moscow or Ceramica Tau for a couple of basketballs and jock straps.

He still needs to learn how to rebound, though last night I actually saw committment from him on the boards. Did anyone else see him actually jump in the air to pull down a board? I initially thought someone pinched him or something or maybe a fan in the nosebleeds bought one of those giant cookies with giant chips and Curry could see it from the court. Whatever it was, the guy's vert was higher than the total inches of his verts since he joined NY.

I don't know what happened to him.

What I'm assuming is that Curry has always been a beast....IN PRACTICE. For some reason, he was so tentative during games.

Now, his moves are quick, decisive and strong. That dunk that he did last night (the one that made Patrick Ewing "oohh" on the sidelines) was exactly what we need to see from Curry.

The rebounding- I'm still not convinced yet. It's been good to see but I'll see how he does over a 10 game span or so.

Curry definitely has been the best Center in the East behind Dwight Howard as of late.
