LMAO @ the Shawne vs Bogut matchup. Guess the Landlord won't even get a chance.

Size may be a problem but that may not be the biggest defensive problem. The defensive rotation is horrid. It's like their playing zone but not.

And why can't a single defender stay on their man?

Also if I see another Knick defender run pass a dribbler and not use the baseline as an extra defender I might scream.

        ^^That's poor coaching.

If they don't practice defensive rotations, they'll have no clue how to do it.

Agreed. That's what frustrates me as I watch it. When I coached youth leagues and saw that, I called time outs and corrected. In the world of D'Antoni, you clap your hands and say go get em on offense.

Some spotty things tonight, but overall we are going to be fine and dandy. Love Billups game tonight, and tony d played well. what can say Melo was Melo, sweet night night.

It's sad. Especially because they'll carry those piss poor habits right into the playoffs...against guys who will burn you.

I wish someone just steps in and forces D'Antoni to hire a real defensive Assistant coach...and not just one of his family members.

Re: The 2011 New York Knicks: The Rebirth

Ugly first game, I really can't believe we won tonight. Melo stepped it up big time down the stretch to close things out. I have no idea why we were barely PnR'ing in the first 42 minutes. We went to it a ton in the last six minutes and the offense looked so much better. Obviously Amare wasn't featured much for most of the game, it'll take time to build some chemistry.

And I think the Felton/Billups debate is over - Billups is clearly still a better player. And he was hyped up and long on almost every jumper he took.

I still beat my head against the wall watching this team defensively but that's nothing new.

The refs, SMH. They called EVERYTHING. Way too many touch fouls.

                  I'll skip the negatives.

                  Big positives I saw were:
-The team being able to function when Amare goes to the bench. It's like, we're still a team because we have someone else on the floor.

-We have 3 guys who can get to the line and hit FTs in the 4th.

Re: The 2011 New York Knicks: The Rebirth

It was what I expected. With no practice rough looking game. STAT is on the verge of being suspended as he's 1 tech away. He needs to stop trying to bully his way in the paint.

Chauncey Billups is gonna be the key to this whole thing. His leadership & composure will begin to rub off on this team as they play more together. It also doesn't hurt that Chauncey shoots 92% from the line.

We need a BIG-MAN bad.. I really hope Donnie is working the phones. Shawne Williams can't keep playing C..

MELO hit those 2 big shots in the final minute, which was huge since STAT had already fouled-out.

Honestly I didn't expect the Knicks to win. Too much against us for a win.

Bucks had our number for a minute now.
New teammates who don't know the flow
Old teammates gone and with them the flow
First-game big-stage jitters I would expect from Billups and Melo
Super hype intro with mass hype about Melo
                        and more importantly....
the "ceremonial" curse. Knicks Legends Ceremony. You know any time teams have this big ceremony before a game it usually leads directly to that team losing.

As mentioned above, having three guys (your star players too) that can knock down free throws is huge. I forgot that Billups was money from the line. Goodness that's a deadly thing to have.

Funny what D'Antoni said at the post-game. Mentioned how Billups can knock down free throws at 92% and then said: "That's because he hasn't been coached by us. He will get to 95%."

One thing that's true about the Knicks is they've always been a good free throw shooting team. It's even more of an issue for the opposition because Amar'e and Anthony will get to the line 16 times in a game. And Billups looks like he'll get his fair share shooting technical free throws and late-game foul shots.

Didn't get to watch the game, but I'm glad we started off with a win. What a great feeling it is to have STAT, Melo, and Billups in the lineup. Can't wait to see how the team looks when they really start to jell.

I think it was already suggested to him, but he balked at the idea.

It was funny watching Dolan's nose grow when he spoke at yesterday's press conference.
