Never gonna sign here but a seat at the table is better than nothing.
KD would be so nice to have but like I said before we have about a 20%-25% chance at landing him. I think we have a better shot of landing him if he takes a 1 yr deal with the Thunder & then becomes a FA after the 2017 season.

Man, is he looking at really bug bucks when it comes to 2017 if he wants to go that route. That's for both him & LeBron. They are going to be making a huge amount of money on longer term contracts.

I think KD & LBJ both are going to sign 1 yr deals with their same teams(Thunder & Cavs) & then go for the really big bucks in 2017. That means at least KD has a good chance at signing elsewhere but I don't know about LeBron. He may stay in Cleveland the rest of his career.

      Celtics News(6-25-16): http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/celti...o-kevin-durant

Jaylen Brown was introduced to the Celtics media Friday. He left a profound impression. The incredibly confident and composed swingman is certain he will exceed the Celtics’ expectations of the third pick.

Serge Ibaka, Victor Oladipo and Thaddeus Young were among the most noteworthy chess pieces to move Thursday around and during the 2016 NBA draft. You can bet, though, they won't be the last to relocate this offseason—not with the other big names that were bandied about in trade rumors, and not with the league bracing for a deluge of TV dollars.

A collection of NBA news and notes regarding the teams of the Atlantic Division.

With the salary cap reportedly rising to $94 million this summer, every team in the league will have the funds necessary to sign a big-time free agent. And while this year's class is considerably top-heavy, several franchises can take the next step towards winning a championship by adding a marquee name this offseason. Here are the three teams that should spend big in free agency:Boston CelticsBoston general manager Danny Ainge has done an excellent job at stockpiling assets, but has so far failed to turns those assets into superstar talent. Given the team's struggles to acquire a star player through trade, it may be in the Celtics' best interest to turn to free agency this summer. Thanks to a combination of rookie-level contracts and affordable deals, the Celtics have just $27 million in guaranteed contracts entering the offseason.Boston is reportedly set to make a run at Kevin Durant, but should continue to pursue several high-profile names even if they strike out on the Thunder forward. The Celtics could use a second scorer to the take the pressure off All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas, and could be interested in throwing their money at offensive-minded players Ryan Anderson, Al Jefferson, or Chandler Parsons.Dallas MavericksSimilar to year's past, the Mavericks' lack of young talent will force them to turn towards free agency to help strengthen their ball club.Dallas' number one priority should be re-signing longtime power forward Dirk Nowitzki, but will need to do more than that if they hope to return to the playoffs. After whiffing on DeAndre Jordan last summer, the Mavericks will likely look to lure a center to pair up with Nowitzki once again. Dallas has already been linked to Dwight Howard and Hassan Whiteside, but are reportedly uninterested in giving the former a max-level contract. With Deron Williams headed for unrestricted free agency, the Mavericks may also need to find a replacement at point guard. Dallas would be wise to turn their attention to Mike Conley, who reportedly has "great respect" for head coach Rick Carlisle. Orlando Magic After spending the last four seasons stuck in rebuild-mode, the time for the Orlando Magic to spend big in free agency is now. Already possessing a talented, young core, the Magic can take the next step towards reaching the postseason by signing a marquee free agent this summer. With just over $41 million in guaranteed contracts, Orlando has the cap space available to sign two max-level players if they so choose. One of those contracts could be handed to Evan Fournier, the team's 23-year-old swingman who averaged career-highs in points (15.4), rebounds (2.8), and assists (2.7) in 2015-16. The other is likely to go an unrestricted free agent, with Al Horford, Chandler Parsons, and Hassan Whiteside among the list of players likely to interest general manager Rob Hennigan.

          Celtics News(6-27-16): http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/16...-heat-clippers

Taken from writer on ESPN about Jared Sullinger:

Sullinger rated No. 8 free agent

Kevin Pelton can see you scratching your head. Yet he presents a case for why Jared Sullinger should be at least this high on the list.

Is that what ESPN Insider subscribers pay a monthly fee for? To be told Sullinger is the 8th best free agent this summer?

            Throwing money away.

Yeah. That was just a part of a writer's post that was not ESPN Insider information & was on regular ESPN.com though.

As you probably know it's against TOS here to post ESPN Insider information & other paid subscriber's information as well. BTW, I don't have Insider & wouldn't pay the fee for it either. I think it's for the most part a money steal.

I think we all have allowed a slight glimmer of hope to peak through no matter how hard we fight it.

Jeremy asked about Reggie Lewis #35 before.

I asked Lewis’ mother, Inez Ritch, how she’d feel if the Celtics asked for her blessing to offer No. 35 to Durant as a tribute to her son.

“I don’t think it would take anything from Reggie because his number is still hanging up in the Garden,” Ritch told me over the phone. “If I see Durant running up and down the court with the No. 35, I don’t know how my emotions would be until it happens.

"I don’t think I would be upset about it. I think it would be a good thing because he is a very nice, humble young man. I don’t know a lot about him, but I know of some of the things he has achieved while wearing the No. 35.”

We wouldn't have to give anything up that's for sure. We have the money for like you said for two max contracts. However, if we was to land KD even if it's just for 1 yr, I think somebody like Crowder or Jerebko or another player would get traded or released.

I still think it's a long shot for us to sign KD either this off-season or if he signs a 1yr deal back with the Thunder, next off-season as well.

It would be a dream achieved if we could get him but I just don't see it happening. Not trying to be negative either. Just my honest thoughts on this. Thanks!

I already believe Sullinger as a RFA is somehow going elsewhere too. I don't think the C's are going match at least one other teams offer. I don't think the money will be substantial but probably more than what the C's want to pay him.

Durant aside i do really want Horford on this team. He's the most realistic of the big names out there.

According to league-related sources, Celts to give qualifying offers to Jared Sullinger & Tyler Zeller, making them restricted free agents.

I expected this to happen for both of these players. However, I was least expecting it for Zeller. Wonder what the qualifying offers are? I would say not too expensive offers for both. I say this because we are going after both Horford & Whiteside as far as PF/C(inside big men).

I know we aren't really concerned too much about Zeller. He was barely even playing towards the end of this past season. When he did play he contributed & played well. I never could understand why he didn't get more playing time.

I would like to keep both Sullinger & Zeller but there's just no way I see us keeping both guys. Maybe not even neither one of them because they will probably receive offers more than we want to give. We're going to get at least one star/semi-star player to sign a max deal. I would say our best bet is going to be Horford because he has the shortest list out of all FA's.

We might have a shot at Whiteside but I still think he signs elsewhere. Same thing with KD. That means we would still have plenty of CAP money to sign another star player to a max contract. I have no idea as to who that player would be right now. We might be waiting until 2017 to go after a couple of bigtime stars.
