Agreed. And also along those lines, I am sure the estates for Ali and the other greats demand just as high. I would much rather 2K go in the current or lesser known fighters than Ali and the bunch. For example, I would take the Klitschkos and the Kronk contingent in a heartbeat over a retired all time great. And I am sure there would be money left over.

Wow, the lack of Pretty Boy Floyd is a huge issue for me, and probably a lot of other casual boxing fans who want to buy the game. It's like having Madden without the Patriots.
EDIT: Oops, didn't realize I was reading a wishlist. So only Pavlik is confirmed? Now I'm even more weary.Comment

The right stick feature that was in FN, wasnt that good. But they should use both sticks so they kinda become your left and right handsComment

Re: 2k's boxing game set to be announced tonight...
Never understood why people thought the right stick was so great in Fight Night. It was actually the most unrealistic control device I have seen in a sports game. There really is no difference in effort between a jab, hook, and uppercut. It is about angles and choice. But the right stick makes all the punches fundamentally different by requiring effort.
2K should focus on angles, stamina, and defense.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Yep. I would also love to give a special shoutout to the parry that would result in your hands falling to your side like you just hit a brick wall.
So many factors go into Fight Night being purely comedic.Comment

I would rather them just capture the sport of boxing in its truest form and give me ultimate custom options.Follow me on Twitter - http://twitter.com/complex219Comment

I like the analog stick control scheme much better than the dated button layout. Despite Fight Night's flaws.........the game is WORLDS better than anything Venom has done in a boxing game. Seriously, am I the only one that actually played those Rocky games? They were fun for about 2 hours (if that). You could literally jab your way to the end of those games. Virtually nothing has been said about this game and already everybody is making it their game of choice over Fight Night. I suggest you guys go rent Rocky again to get a taste of what Venom has done. Maybe if Visual Concepts was involved with this game i'd be more excited. But it appears 2k is making this game on the cheap by using a developer with a piss poor track record for quality boxing games. Any version of Fight Night is the ultimate sim standing next to those Rocky games.Comment

I do like the analog stick way better than the buttons but EA didn't put it in right.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: 2k's boxing game set to be announced tonight...
Who cares whether this is on 360 or PS3. This thing is gonna be on the Wii, if that's doesn't give you a reason to buy a Wii then nothing will. Hopefully 2K gets it right with the mechanics and if they do it will blow the other systems away. Imagine going toe to toe and actually swinging for 12 rounds barely able to lift your arms by the final round. Now that would be satisfying. Who cares about superior graphics if you have total immersion. It's about time they started deveolping a good boxing game for the Wii and now that Top Spin is also coming out soon the developers have finally decided to make sports games that beg to be played on the Wii.Last edited by Seymour Scagnetti; 12-13-2007, 01:18 AM.Comment

Re: 2k's boxing game set to be announced tonight...
I found the Rocky games superior to Fight Night.
The stamina and punch technique of the game were far superior. And it was more sim than Fight Night.
Where Rocky was real weak was moving and punching cohesively.
The button layout may be dated, but I will take dated and realistic over novel and unrealistic everyday. Fight Night control scheme is comparable to pressing more buttons to shoot a three, throw a pass past 20 yards, etc....Comment

I like the idea of using the analog stick but not in the way that FN implements it. No pro or even amateur boxer needs to make such painfully deliberate movements to throw different punches. It's just as easy to throw a jab as it is a hook or uppercut.
If 2K was smart, and they wanted to use the analog stick for punches then it should go like this:
11:00, 1:00 = left jab, right cross (or vice-versa for southpaws)
9:00, 3:00 = left, right hook
7:00, 5:00 = left, right uppercuts.
It doesn't get simpler than that and it won't require much effort to fire off the various punches - just like in real life.Comment
