Re: Button mashing gone from Fight Night Round 4!!

I feel its a valid complaint. In round 3 i used a little of both to be competitive. i really enjoyed using the sticks to jab and cross and throw hooks and uppercuts. but i guess in the competitive world of online play i used the buttons to throw hooks and uppercuts in combinations.

I really hope they tweak the TPC to be perfect. and i say give us the option of using buttons offline. Ban the buttons online i guess.

Or have Sticks or Button punching as an online option. I don't care-I will be ready for whatever. As a boxing fan I'm very excited about what I'm hearing.

        heres my complaint

in order to throw combos quickly, and precisly it is no question that the buttons are the prerferred way of play

i play online alot with roy jones jr, his strength is his amazing speed which i cant utilize with the sticks so i was a button person

the only way this would work in my opinion is if some how he wad a double analog control one ofr the right and left but then how would u move????

and people who were complaing online in my opinion are not that skilled

i have gotten my but handed to me but analog users.......and i have won 375 online fights and lost to 60, those being analog users

Jones strength was speed and a very powerful straight right. If you mastered the cheesy parries you could rip off (button mash) many devastating jab-straight combos that included that right. Two questions:
            (1) How much will your game suffer with the elimination of the parry
            immobilization system?
            (2) How do you know you lost to analog users?

Man you stole that last one from me, I can't wait to redeem myself. TPC control works well. If you threw the wrong punch, thats a user error not a game flaw. As Pappy has stated the sticks are the way to go. It gives a realistic pace to the fights, with the buttons, the punches are too quick, nearly every guy can throw combos like ALi, which is a travesty. Especially the continued hooks, very unrealistic. I am so stoked about EVERYONE ACTUALLY LEARNING HOW TO BOX vs just playing a video game. Boxing is a sweet science.

Re: Button mashing gone from Fight Night Round 4!!

I am very scared when it comes to the control scheme this year. I have always been an analog user but this year they are making some changes to that and I fear that it will lead to some confusion. This year you don't have to hold the Left Trigger and lean in to throw a body shot. All you have to do is flick the Right Stick left for a left hook to the body, flick right for a right hook, flick in the 7 position for a left uppercut, and flick in the 5 position for a right uppercut to the body. You will have to use LT to throw jabs and straights to the body. I think this will make the game faster and ultimately more realistic, but I am worried that when I go for a hook to the head, the game won't recongnize my circle motion and throw a body shot. This may not be a big deal the first couple of times, but will get very annoying after a while. I hope EA has made the TPC perfect this year. Also I hear that you will be able to move while your leaning and dodging punches. Is this true???

This happened to me A LOT when playing last month. I had to compensate by throwing my hooks more slowly and deliberately, which was frustrating during combinations.

I've been thinking and i believe sticking to one control scheme could be realistic. In your case it provides a scenario where your not very proficient with hook speed and are having a hard time using them in combos due to lack of speed. You now have a weakness in your game that you can make up for in other areas (as long as the gameplay is as rich as it seems to be).

If you just came out and blindly started throwing punches you would lose , whether you was using sticks or buttons .

That's why the "EVERYONE ACTUALLY LEARNING HOW TO BOX BECAUSE OF TPC" crowds argument is just plain dumb...Just because you mastered the learning curve applied to the stick that doesn't somehow make you a better player or a boxer...This is something the TPC elitists could never get through their heads...You didn't get your *** kicked because the buttons are cheese, you got your *** kicked because you're garbage at playing the game...

I really hate the fact the guys over at EA have decided to take the side of the vocal minority on this subject...I just hope they made some serious changes to the TPC layout...

Wow you couldn't be more wrong. especially because we're talking about FN 3. That game allowed u to basically stand still without moving your head and just guess where the punches would come from and after parrying have free reigns on the other boxer. has nothing to do with being garbage.

You my friend are sadly the one who couldn't be more wrong...You make it sound as if TPC users are at a drastic disadvantage and this is certainly is not the case...I have taken many losses to TPC users who simply put it, know how to box and parry effectively...At the same time i have destroyed numerous TPC elitisits that choose to stand infront of me with no parry skills and just swing away like drunken morons...

The problem here has always been obvious, yes the buttons do give you a speed advantage when it comes to combos but ultimately it still comes down to a players skill level...TPC learning curve does not make you a better boxer or a player...All you're doing is mastering another way to throw a punch...this won't improve your parry skills or overall defense or anything else pertaining to actually learning how to box...

"Mastering another way to throw a punch"? I don't think there is great skill needed in throwing punches with the stick, and don't forget that harder punches came from the stick so less had to land for cumulative damage. That is why many went with the stick yet authored the lame "I want to be challenged" argument. What amazes me is the lack of discussion about "stick mashing" and "stick power".

This is true. but i was referring to the part of your post where you mentioned if i lose its not because of cheese its because im garbage at the game.

that part is very wrong. in round 3 i was a good player and there were dudes online that could parry your jab and land a KO punch. or parry your jab and land 6 hit combos. i only met 2 dudes that could ko punch a jab parry. But there were tons of button mashers(during combos only) that could land extreme combos off of a parry. that is unrealistic cheese.
