I'm not discrediting Wards skill at all and I know he is fighting at a new weight but come on..
The mismatch might have been partly fueled by finances. Some better fighters wanted more while Brand accepted $30,000-Ward's cut was $850,000.

the guy basically just tried not to get knocked out....he had a decent chin though. ward hit him pretty good a few times.

Yes he did. Plus they said that they didn't want anything to jeopardize the Nov fight. As in cuts or injuries. It is a quick turnaround. I think he was suppose to fight him last year but ward hurt his knee. So this was honoring a previous agreement to fight too.

One thing about Ward-Kovalez (which I now have as a complete tossup), is that Ward has a lot more to worry about then Kovalez.

If you saw Ward-Frosh at 168 Andre put on a great performance but wilted a bit in the final two rounds.

Yup. I am looking forward to it. It is a complete toss up. Great getting the fight people want to see. Like Thurman vs Porter

Strange analysis by Steven A Smith on why Kovalez-Ward is not a "great fight". He said he didn't like it because he prefers the guy going up (Ward) to be the one who is the power puncher....but when asked to pick a winner he halfheartedly goes with Ward...???

Considering that he probably just discovered who Ward and Kovalev were this weekend because has to argue with Max everyday, I wouldn't take his opinion on boxing seriously ever lol. If his name isn't pacman, mayweather,Tyson, or Ali. Him or most of the espn talent have no idea about boxing. And I know you dont take smith serious lol.

Have to disagree GMac-he does follow boxing and even today Kellerman acknowledged as much when calling him "an actual boxing guy" . Having watched the segment again I'm coming away with him just having a simple bias toward Ward, and not at all comfortable with Andre's chances despite his tepid prediction. He admitted upfront he was a Ward fan, apparently so much that he wants the fighter's record preserved.

I will take your word for it. All I know is if he was a boxing guy then I would would like to hear him talk about some other fights. I have only heard him talk about major star fights. I want to hear him talk about some of the other fighters. Like Adonis stevens, Porter, Thurman etc etc. I don't want to only hear him talk about major fights or a controversial fight. I mean this is the first time I have heard him talk about ward. I have never heard him talk about ward when he was going through the super six tournament. Not saying he hasn't. I just have never heard him talk about it. I will take your word for it though. I trust your opinion

Yea, tuning in to sportscenter or some espn talk show for in depth boxing analysis prob isn't the best idea.

it all depends on kovalev....if he puts on the pressure for all 12 rounds, he probably comes out on top. ward will have to be in the best condition of his life and purely outbox him. plain and simple.

                          First..appreciate the props G-Mac.
I don't watch the show all the time but I've heard him reference a lot of past fighters like making a Ward-Kovalez/ Hearns-Hagler analogy today and the two talked about Aaron Pryor (Kellerman said Sugar Ray really didn't want that fight). He also talked up GGG after the Lemieux fight saying Floyd, Cotto and Canelo should stay away from him like the plague.

I wasn't necessarily looking for an in depth analysis from Stephen A who I consider more a fan than an expert. I just wasn't expecting him to dial down the significance of the matchup.

Must be stepping his game up to argue with Max lol. It's not too difficult to out talk Bayless about boxing lol

                                Bayless is a contrarian troll.
