Problem with boxing today is guys like Spence are EASILY avoided, particularly with the non-PPV money that even the top talent is forced to draw from today. Just hours ago Kell Brook was musing about an almost set in stone match between him and Spence, but as you read on there really isn't a bout between the two, more like a "fight mirage". Thurman was challenged by the youngster, a Pac fight was put out there, but the "kid" just isn't ready yet..translation-Errol is simply not worth the risk right now.

And as physically talented as he is he hasn't fought a top welterweight yet, all due respect to Chris Algieri.

On a side note it looks like Lucas Matthysse's career is on the verge of disappearing after his KO loss to Postol over a year ago.

Biggest fight of the year on Saturday. I'm concerned about Ward's lack of ring-time over the past few years, and I just don't know if he's back to where he was (or if he ever will be). And he's fighting a complete monster. I will be rooting for Ward, but honestly I think Kovalev will win a decision with a possible knockdown thrown in.

Of course, having said that, Kovalev's inability to get a stoppage against an ancient B-Hop may be a preview of what he's going to face in a very experienced fighter like Ward.

Either way, they don't get along, so they gotta get it on!

dvr'd it.....garcia looked good, as expected. nice tune-up for thurman. welterweight division looks great post-floyd. great face to face smack talk. these two will back it up too. thurman was even talking smack during the commentary. lol. this fight is made for ppv. will be different than thurman-porter just because garcia is a slicker boxer but should be great none the less. please have manny fight the winner....just because we fans deserve it.

Didn't realize Povetkin/Stiverne was set for December 17th in Russia with the winner taking on Wilder later in 2017. (Same night as B-Hop VS Joe Smith Jr.)

Still put off by Haye's "shrinking violet" performance against Klitschko, but there's enough animosity there to have me watching.

                              Busy weekend of boxing:

Showtime leads off around 3:30 or 4:30 PM in England with Anthony Joshua against "Deontay Wilder victim" Eric Molina who did acquit himself well in KOing Tomasz Adamek this past spring. Luis “King Kong” Ortiz is on the undercard against a local bum, but I'm not sure if it will be televised.

I don't see Terence Crawford having much problem with John Molina although the latter surprised me by beating Provodnikov for a title his last fight and he did take a once formidable Matthysse into deep waters in 2014 (Ring Magazine Fight Of The Year). In between those two fights he was surprisingly taken apart by Adrian Broner (At least I was surprised).

A good heavyweight matchup between "undefeateds" Joseph Parker and Andy Ruiz from Auckland, New Zealand.

Both bouts are on HBO "World Championship Boxing" Saturday Night at different venues. There shouldn't be a tape delay, because it would be around 4:30 PM the next day in New Zealand, but you never know.
