Because Big George won an Olympic gold medal?

Because Big George didn't go nearly 40 pro fights before taking on a legit opponent?

Because Big George wasn't the most overprotected heavyweight of his day?

Because Big George could actually string together more combinations than jab-straight right?

Because every hook Wilder throws has more of a loop than a roller coaster?

I'll be pleasantly surprised if Joshua agrees to fight Wilder before 2019. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see it happening in 2018

He's got no choice. Joshua is his golden goose.

won't disagree with you on that but how they allowed this fight to even happen is beyond me.....both wilder and joshua have no legitimate threats to beat either of them so they have to fight each other. it's almost like canelo and GGG at this point.

if he wants any payday at all, he will....this might be his only chance at ppv. forget about the belts for now and fight the best fighter available.

Good for Wilder. Wanting that fight doesn't translate into winning that fight.

Joshua will be the first legitimate opponent Wilder has faced, and the step up in quality will be too much for him to handle.

The difference is Joshua has other BIG revenue sources. He is so popular overseas that might be anyone he fights.

He made $15 million for his fight with Klitschko and $13 million against whats-his-name? in his last fight. Wilder made $1.4 million for his rematch with Stiverne.

Wilder is clearly the B-side in any negotiations between the two.

I agree Wilder is the B-side as long as the fight is in Europe, which it will be in all likelihood

i had the same thoughts as well.....IF wilder agrees to fight at wembley, he could hit the jackpot. it would be a tall task to beat joshua there, but wilder looks as hungry as ever right now. might as well use that undefeated record to get paid.

Curious what everyone thinks....how many buys would a Wilder vs Joshua PPV get? Most casual boxing fans I've been talking to recently don't know who either fighter is. Wondering if that could be a problem...

UK's Sky Sports had 1.5 million buys for Joshua-Klitschko (at about $25 a head) while the largest free to air TV network in Germany (RTL) paid $5.5 million to air the fight. Ten and a half million Germans tuned in to watch it. HBO AND Showtime kicked a few million into the kitty also.

The Germany deal has been a revenue stream for Klitschko for quite some time.

Less than 1 million in the U.S. unless there was a massive marketing campaign. And there's not a boxing promotional company in America that has a clue about marketing and PR.

Could they go PPV on HBO or Showtime AND UK's Sky Sports? Even if they get 350K in the US it would be something.

Come to think of it they would have to adjust the UK start time of the fight to something like 3 or 4 PM if they did that.
