Agree w/ above, but the Kell Brook KO was the real deal.

Lucas Martin Matthysse vs Tiwa Kiram tonight on HBO. The main event features Linares vs Mercito Gesta for the WBA lightweight title.

Matthysee vs Kiram will be for the vacant "regular" WBA welterweight title. It was vacated by Lamont Peterson (I did not know that). Thurman holds the "more prestigious" "Super Champion" title. Too confusing.

            Matthysee vs Kiram

EDIT: My mistake-Matthysse-Kiram is the main event.

As reported up until the 8th round this was a dreadful fight.

I was waiting for one of the members of the broadcast team to mention that both knockdowns (last one a KO) were caused by Matthysse's jab. Max finally did when interviewing the winner.

Two of the most impactful and devastating jabs I have ever seen.

Until the last round, Matthysse looked sluggish and ineffective. If you're referring to the "super-jabs" they would have hurt anybody.

Yeah, they seemed kind of slow confirming it.

Any thoughts on KSI - Weller? Arguably the biggest amateur boxing bout in history... certainly british history.

Interesting that Golden Boy owned Ring magazine rates Golovkin #1 and their boy Canelo #5 in their Pound For Pound rankings.

Wow #5. That seems low. Especially considering the magazine

Silly. Crawford or Lomachenko are the clear No. 1. Golovkin belongs nowhere near the top. He's maybe No. 3. Maybe.

Canelo is slotted just about right at No. 5. He's nowhere near as good as Crawford or Lomachenko, who both are on a different level from any other fighter in the world.
