Re: Boxing Off-Topic
The female winner showed her hands after the fight and they looked beat up.
Bobby Gunn has spoken about this in the past about how important it is to pick your shots to save your hands.
I just finished reading a book on the great John L, and despite being known as the last bare knuckle champion, he fought very few fights bare knuckle. He preferred gloves because of the damage his hands sustained.
In his famous fight with Kilrain, observers said his hands and wrists were balloons half way thru the fight.
(I was always under the assumption that this bout was a Donnybrook that went back and forth, but this book described this bout in great detail. It was a 76 round one sided beating.
Kilrain was knocked out unconscious several times, but due to the unique London rules, a fighters seconds were allowed to drag their man to the corner and revive them.
They had 30s to recover and an additional 8 seconds to toe the line.
Several times in this fight, John L refused to throw a punch at a clearly unprotected Kilrain who was swaying and barely conscious. So he'd push him over, which triggered a new round. Sullivan even announced to the crowd that he was not a murderer and had no interest in potentially killing someone with an unchallenged punch.
The author said that several eye witnesses agreed that Kilrain was in such bad shape, that it was agreed John L could have quite literally killed him at several points of the fight.
Kilrains seconds eventually agreed to the loss after conceding their man had been out on his feet for over an hour, with only whiskey and splashes of water keeping him going. Kilrain was described as being dilirious with drink, sun burns and having been knocked unconscious nearly a dozen times.)

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
As ESPN tries to sell it's $4.99 a month ESPN+ it will make Crawford-Horn only available on that subscription service. Much of it's telecasting on ESPN and ESPN 2 this weekend will be NCAA baseball Super Regionals. I have it because I initiated a 7-day trial so I could watch the Inoue fight (which I missed) from Japan and then forgot to cancel. The problem with the plus service is that there is no dedicated app for it so you're resigned to having to watch it on your computer. The Horn-Crawford fight will start around 6:30 PM Saturday with the prelims starting three hours before that.
More competitive fights that night on ShowTime:

To watch the ESPN+ content, you can just use the normal ESPN app. There is a separate tab for ESPN+.
Unless I'm not understanding the issue you are having....

They'll fight again (because people like money), but it won't be a particularly relevant fight whenever it happens again. Such is boxing.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
And while GGG may not deserve a 50/50 split (I believe he is), he should be getting at least 45%.
This just proves Yellow doesnt want the rematch.
He could easily force DLHs hand.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Yellow might have some money problems considering he lost an $8.5 million to a former promoter. Having said that I'm not sure he has paid a penny of it. All-Star Boxing failed in its attempt to garnish his Chavez Jr. fight wages.Comment
