Tessitore performs the same role for college football and boxing telecasts on ESPN: Play-by-play. He's not an analyst.

Because Matthysse is older, slower and smaller than Horn. Period.

Yeah maybe, I just thought Pac had a slight resurgence. Not saying he'd even entertain fighting the top 3 or 4 welterweights though. As you know he's looking for the best $cabbage$ score, with the least amount of risk.

matthysse looked like a shell of his former self in there....which made manny look great. what would you think of manny taking on danny garcia? garcia needs a name to boost his resume and manny would be taking on a legit top flight welterweight to see if he is really back or not.

I would like to see Pacquiao fight any of the top welterweights regardless of what I think his chances are but the choices seem limited (senior repeat with Floyd, an MMA debacle, Khan). The only caveat would be that it is not a PPV fight although I might do a re-sign of $4.99 for ESPN+ to watch it.

Jaime Munguia vs. Liam Smith tonight on HBO. Munguia has impressed and eyes a move up to 160 to face GGG or Canelo. This bout is for his 154 WBO title and the oddsmakers say he'll keep it.

Munguia didn't look very sharp getting hit with too many solid rights from Smith, but after tasting the latter's power he probably wasn't too concerned about it.

After the fight, Liam Smith simply said: "Canelo hits harder".

Man all I kept thinking was he is Angulo parr 2..lol..he is terribly flawed with his technique offense and defense..those looping punches are going to get him hurt..it will be a short but exciting career for him..

He had no worries about Liam Smith's punching power but his defensive flaws were still troubling. He's young though.

On ShowTime Saturday night Mikey Garcia vs. Robert Easter for a "lightweight semi-unification" bout (Garcia's WBC and Easter's IBF belts). Considering this fight has been eagerly awaited for some time nobody is giving Easter much of a chance.

Oh yea you are right about he had no fear of his power but his looping shots are what kept Smith in the fight and led to his terrible defense..straighter sharper shots with a hint of a jab and and some balance and Smith is out in 5 at the latest..
Looking forward to Garcia vs Easter.I dont know if Easter can keep Garcia off him...but its a great intriguing matchup..Did you see Canelos latest training video that he is getting lit up about..man his speed and size have evaporated..

Liam Smith is no scrub and Munguai looked a lot better against Ali, but the bottom line is he easily won against a top-ranked opponent. I hope his team has reevaluated moving up to 160 in the near future. He should face either Charlo, Hurd, Lara, or Kell Brook in 2019.

Hmm I dont think he is a scrub but he is a B level fighter who has wilted when it was time to step up..Munguai looked better against Ali because Ali was much smaller and like Kellerman said he didnt k know what was coming..and Ali is a decent fighter..Charlo Lara and Brook are world class top level opponents who would pick him and Smith apart..he has a punchers chance against Hurd because Hurd is a brawler with no defense..2yrs from now after he steps up we will all be saying what happened to Mungaia..lol

These sentiments of yours were expressed before the Liam Smith fight? Lara is old, Hurd is beatable, Brook has been battered down by GGG and Spence and Charlo didn't exactly look like gold against Trout. The kid could get beat by any of them but he's not up against Four Kings level fighters (Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Duran).

Ali had a size disadvantage but "not knowing what was coming" was "excuse overkill". I'll let Max make the losing fighter feel better.

I wouldn't characterize Munguai and Smith as the same level of fighter just to make a point.
