So Pacquiao versus Cinderella Man Chris Algieri in November. At least the kid gets a cool million, but I don't see how he could win.

No doubt this will be at a catchweight of 143.
They've already said that Algieri will keep his belt regardless.

I'm a Pac fan, but something tells me Manny would have not reached out to fight Provodnikov if he had won.

Despite Algieri's size advantage, I don't think Manny will be in trouble.
      Should be an easy 12UD.

Yeah, that's a waste of a fight. Floyd would of been crucified if he fought a guy like that. That's such a weak opponent selection, don't see the benefit of the fight at all. The numbers won't do well, and if he wins, it adds nothing to his resume, if he loses, that looks really bad. lose/lose situation here.

Easy money for Pac-Man though. Algieri is tough and slick like Malignaggi, but that head bob with the gloves up (yeah, I mentioned it before) seems to give him an added defensive wrinkle. I'm with Kellerman, he's one defensive minded fighter that's actually enjoyable to watch......now if he only had a medium punch.

I'm a Floyd fan but I kind of look at him differently after reading this.

Not flattering to say the least.

LOL, Brian Campbell arguing against Sergio Martinez's inclusion into boxing's hall of fame with Dan Rafael countering. This amid the news that Sergio is not retiring.

I'll be the first to admit I'm not sure the qualifications for enduction into the Boxing HoF. But I think Sergio should probably be in there.

Here's the Modern Inductees (Last Bout No Earlier Than 1943). If Pipino Cuevas, Carlos Palomino, and Arturo Gatti are in there, why not Sergio? That's no knock against those fighters by the way.

Just saw Canelo vs Lara. I had it a draw. It was a decent fight. Canelo needs to work on setting up his punches. He can't expect fighters to trade with him. He's got to cut off the ring and use his jab.

Anyone catch HBO2's showcase yesterday afternoon?
Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez vs Junior Talipeau.
Sanchez completely blew-out Talipeau. I don't know anything about either fighter, but Sanchez looks like a really good prospect. He annihilated Talipeau who had never been stopped.
He put together some really crisp combo's and had some terrific accuracy when head-hunting - especially his uppercuts.

Amateur stand-out Zou Shiming then put on a clinic vs Luis De la Rosa.
De la Rosa had tremendous heart, fighting on with a bad cut over his left eye. He kept wading in and attempting to trade shots.
Shiming showed some impressive skills and the last 10 seconds of the fight was an all-out trade fest.
Doesn't look like Shiming has much power, but you can see his amateur pedigree.
He won the vacant WBO in only his 5th fight.

All in all, not a bad pair of fights on HBO.

As a side note, after watching this card, I couldn't help but wonder why more of these types of fights aren't on free TV.
I loved ABC's wide world of sports program as a kid.

My two sons (11 and 7) actually watched this fight with me and they're both interested in staying up for the GGG vs Geale fight next weekend. I hope they can stay awake for the whole thing.
I'd love to start a tradition of watching some big fights with my boys.

I remember watching Hipp-Morrison. That made me an instant Hipp fan.

Looking forward to Golovkin-Geale this Saturday. GGG is a solid 7-1 favorite. Meanwhile De La Hoya has been dropping Golovkin's name as a possible opponent for Alvarez.
