Of course it does. Broner's career is far from over. He isn't gonna make the PPV pay days he dreamt of a while back and he pretty much has to move back to 140 but he nearly cleaned out 140 before and can do it again. Hell, he could go down to 135 for a fight with Terrance Crawford that would draw some pretty big interest and probably more money than anything at 140 right now. He has options but very few of the are at 147.

No way Broner will ever fight at 135 again. Crawford just moved up to 140, so Broner COULD meet him there.

Yeah, come to think of it he could make 140 with some work. He fought Carlos Molina and Taylor for a lesser WBA 140 Title in May 2014 and September 2014 respectively, and was 141 against John Molina in March of this year.

his career isn't over yet, but.....i think he needs to humble himself, get a new trainer with a more offensive mindset who preaches discipline, and get serious!

Agree, it seems unlikely to me that he could even come close to ever making 135 again. I have no idea how he was ever there in the first place, just looking at his frame.

LOL, I really mean this. It seems like yesterday when he was overweight for a 130 title fight. Actually three years ago.

Weird thing is broner actually looks a lot bigger than floyd, but he definitely can't fight at the same weight class as effectively.

I might be in the minority, but I don't want him out of the picture. Maybe Floyd can make him a project after retirement. Or making he's lacking too much of the "it" factor where it will make a difference.

^I'm with you, i still think broner has some potential, and as much as he gets under people's skin, he is entertaining in some way. I honestly think he needs to start being more offensive and stop posturing so much, he kinda waste his hand speed.

I mean, Broner makes for some compelling fights, and it's good to have someone to root against, so in that sense I don't necessarily want him gone. I just don't care....if he never fights again, there will be other guys to take his place.

At least the bloom is off his hype rose....I remember when such illustrious boxing experts as the idiots on deadspin were basically saying he was unbeatable....that was a long time ago now.

He has fast hands that he doesn't throw enough, which he could get away with if he was accurate like floyd(who he wants to be) but he's not. He also can't fight off the back foot either. He tries to fight like big bro in some aspects, but he just can't do it. He would be better off going with a more offensive style, he's not the best counter puncher honestly. Instead of trying(and failing) to fight like floyd does now, he should fight like floyd did when he was at lightweight, more offensive.

And i think people meant broner had more tools than porter did, rather than being more skilled, but that doesn't mean a thing if you don't know how to use them. Broner is trying to look cute and pretend he's floyd in the ring and it doesn't work.

Porter was also kinda driving me crazy, broner was clinching him like crazy, but porter would sometimes smother his own offense, i feel like he does that in general sometimes. He should of fought more at mid range, probably would of caught broner more.
Agreed, especially on the Porter smothering his own offense. I know part of the gameplan was to muck it up with Broner and try to make it an ugly fight but Porter seems like more athlete than boxer. He deserved the win for output and the fact that Broner should have been penalized early, which IMO, could have made the fight more enjoyable if Broner had to fight.

It's the same story for Broner when it comes to output, he simply isn't a busy enough fighter to win over a judge in a fight like this. Great hand speed, good defense (altho he keeps his hands way too low at times, especially when backpedaling) and a solid chin. I think we were all impressed by the knockdown considering how devoid of power he's been since he started moving up but he looked lost when he had to finish him.

Pre-fight when Porter totally dismissed the 144 catchweight having any effect on him, I believed him. I also believed that Broner was in for a difficult night.

                          Right on both counts there.

Anyone see the Lemiuex fight? Impressions/comments? I didn't get to see it, but I think he's an exciting fighter in general. Usually it's guaranteed fireworks when he's in the ring.

He was hitting N’Dam frequently with the left hook, and despite the four knockdowns N'Dam won five rounds on two cards and six on the other. I was thinking it wouldn't be a miracle if N'Dam hurt him or knocked him out in the later rounds, because the decent power was there to do it, and I can't get out of my head that Rubio KOed Lemiuex.

I'm hearing GGG vs Lemiux could happen next. Eh, it'll probably be a good fight. A bit of a step up from GGG's usual victims i guess.

Yeah, Lemiuex is good for fireworks, but he's borderline reckless...which makes for good fights, but I envision no situation in which he doesn't get knocked-out against a guy with GGG's power.
