I haven't really watched the fight game, but from what i've heard about it, i don't really want to. Lampley has no idea what he's talking about it seems like, i used to like him, but i don't like the things i've heard about the fight game. From the anti gatti list and constantly bagging on any fighter who doesn't just stand and trade and now him comparing those guys to the big 4? Don't get me wrong, those would be some great fights to mix up, but lampley needs to go sit down somewhere and stop talking for a minute. Dude is losing it.

I'm not a big fan of the Gatti and Anti-Gatti lists, even if I overlook how opinionated it is.

The Anti Gatti List: (anything like antipasto?)

      Floyd, Wlad, Rigondeaux, Vasquez, Lara.

"It also has become clear N’Dam and his camp aren’t pleased with the purse. Golden Boy Promotions, headed by Oscar De La Hoya, was the only bidder in April, capturing the rights for only $102,000, split evenly between the pugilists — although there’s nothing preventing both promoters from giving the boxers additional funds.

“The purse is an embarrassment to the sport for a world-title fight, but the reason we accepted it was because we’re here for the belt,” said Mous Ouicher, N’Dam’s trainer. “The purse is a disgrace to boxing. If we weren’t sure to win the title, we wouldn’t be here today.

“I just hope the referee’s impartial.”

N’Dam, it should be mentioned, reportedly turned down an offer of $300,000 from King before he passed away.

“They asked for the purse-bid. It’s unfortunate no other promoter was there to bid. We were fortunate,” De La Hoya said. “We went through the process and protocol, and we won the fight.”

Paul Cain, who was King’s associate, believes the death will affect N’Dam positively. He said his camp improved exponentially after the news, the boxer becoming more determined. N’Dam sparred 14 rounds on a daily basis, then worked out for two hours, according to Cain.

“He’s completely ready. I really think Lemieux gets a boxing lesson,” Cain said. “We came here for no money. But I think they like drama. Every fight I’ve been with them, there’s always been some kind of drama. He’s prepared. I don’t think Lemieux beats him. I really don’t.”

N’Dam was a former World Boxing Association and World Boxing Organization interim titleholder, but he relinquished his hold of the division against Peter Quillin in October 2012, losing a unanimous decision while being thoroughly outclassed. Indeed, N’Dam was knocked down an incredible six times — twice each in Rounds 4, 6 and 12. But he got into position for another title shot against Curtis Stevens last October, capturing an easy and unanimous decision, knocking Stevens down in the eighth.

N’Dam’s entourage claim they respect Lemieux and are not underestimating the Canadian. But they point to a pair of 2011 defeats he suffered within eight months to Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachim Alcine which, they believe, make Lemieux vulnerable.

Lemieux changed trainers following the losses, with Russ Anber replaced by Marc Ramsay. He signed with manager Camille Estephan and surrounded himself with a battery of specialists, including a strength and physical conditioning coach.

“There were certain things I had to change, especially at my level,” Lemieux said. “There were certain things I wasn’t able to do that I can now. I wouldn’t say I was one-dimensional, but I had a certain way of fighting. There were certain things missing.”

He’s undefeated in eight fights since that epiphany, going the distance once, while capturing the North American Boxing Federation crown against Fernando Guerrero. His coming-out party undeniably occurred last December, when he was impressive in dominating Gabriel Rosado, stopping him in the 10th round after knocking him down in the third. It marked Lemieux’s debut on HBO.

While Lemieux remains a tremendous power puncher, he also admittedly takes too many risks to please the crowd. But Lemieux vowed he has changed.

“My style’s different and my determination’s different,” he said. “I believe I have more abilities than he does in a lot of ways. I’ll show that. Just keep watching and you’ll see the improvement.

“My defence is my offence. Sometimes I take risks … for the fans.”

The referee for the bout is Montreal’s Marlon B. Wright. The first fight begins at 6:30 p.m., with the main event scheduled for between 11 and 11:30. Although it’s being televised in the U.S. by FOX, it will be blacked out in Montreal."

Didn't know this fight was taking place... looks more like you get to see it for free and Canadians are getting hosed! Or at least quebec folk because they are doing a ppv in canada only which historically is never very successful.

The purse stuff is fascinating to me - 50k each for a title fight? That's just crazy! Apparently a '3rd party' is comitting more money to the fighters, but golden boy got a real cheap one here.

If it indeed airs on fox, I wonder if I'll get it in ontario and under what banner it will be? It's goldenboy which I thought was associated mostly with HBO? I get confused at this stuff sometimes. It won't be PBC, so is is just "boxing on Fox"?

I hate Lampley. I rarely watch his show because of it, and I only tolerate him because he's the voice of boxing for HBO (unfortunately...).

Depending on where in Ontario you are, you might be able to go old-school and grab over-the-air US Fox broadcast via rabbit-ears/antennae...

Lemieux has looked like a wrecking ball much of his career, except for the KO loss to Rubio and a losing decision his very next fight. Did anyone catch The Fight Game with Jim Lampley where Kellerman and Lampley made comparisons between the big four of the 80's (Leonard, Hearns, Duran, and Hagler) and GGG, Canelo, Cotto, and Lemieux of this era?
            Its on Fox Sports 2.

I don't hate him, but he's kind of vanilla. My favorite boxing announcers were Cosell and Don Dunphy. Charisma wise Lampley couldn't touch them.

Lampley has a good commentating voice, that's it tho. The best commentator for boxing was hands down emmanuel steward. I felt like you could learn little things form listening to him, and he was good at breaking down what happened, wasn't really biased either. I still remember one of my favorite moments was him going "OHH MY GOD!" in the ortiz vs berto fight. I tend to like commentators that are actually boxers or coaches like roy jones and paulie malignagi, sugar ray is a horrible commentator though. I actually like Teddy Atlas too, his analogies always make me chuckle.

Would like to see Porter win. He did a number on Paulie and I think he can shake Broner a bit just like Maidana if he catches him with a good shot. Either way I expect a pretty good fight. Will prob watch David's fight tomorrow.

Ward appropriately slammed his opponent for going over the 172 catchweight by 4.4 pounds. Paul Smith will forfeit $45,000 of his $225,000 purse, half going to Andre, the other half going to the California State Athletic Commission.

The extra weight didn't help him with the oddsmakers. He remains a 16-1 underdog.

Every time I have seen Spence he has looked good. Very, very good looking prospect. With Floyd on his way out its the perfect time for some new blood to come in make a name for themselves. You don't have to be a "kardashian" fighter either as everyone likes a fighter who closes the show .

Tony Weeks is doing a terrible job in my opinion of controlling this Broner-Porter fight. At least 2 points should have been deducted from Broner halfway through this fight, and the holding by Broner is just completely out of hand. Broner's holding is not a legitimate boxing tactic - it's a joke that he's able to get away with this. Steve Smoger needs to get out of the NBC booth and get in there and ref the rest of this fight.

Remember Smoger has the rep of not stopping fights soon enough.

Broner held too much, but like most welters couldn't handle Porter's rushes and high pressures. Adrian missed a few left hook leads early in the fight that could have caused damage. Good knockdown shot in the final round.
