Because he is promoted by a rapper.

Missed it. I saw the highlights on YouTube. I wouldn't mind seeing a replay.

I just read where Larry Merchant* is proposing that Crawford fight Pac at 140? Why would Pac do that?

      *so what

Again HBO needs someone, anyone other than Marquez or Bradley to fight Pac, because their stable of fighters is completely watered down.

If Gamboa could hurt Crawford I'm pretty sure Manny could floor him especially at 140.

That pretty well sums up the problem these guys are facing right now. HBO do have some up and comers at or around 140 but none of them are ready to the point where they are likely to upset Manny.

He's only got so many fights left in him so they can either keep remaking fights with past opponents or put someone in front of him that's not quite ready.

Great fight. Tons of skill and great mix of boxing and brawling. As others have said, Gamboa at lightweight is probably too much of a concession in weight to the other guys in the class. Crawford had a star-making performance there.

I hear Mayweather is going to fight Maidana again in September? It's official: he's fresh out of fights that can be made at 147.

Probably not getting Canelo Alvarez VS Erislandy Lara, but it's temping. Odds are pretty close with Alvarez about an 8-5 favorite.

I'm not getting it, because I am still not sure how and when Canelo became a PPV draw. He beat Trout (who lost to Lara), headlined a PPV card with Mayweather (and lost convincingly) and outside of that has a record of wins over boxing nobodies yet now I'm suppose to pay $75 to watch him fight?

Seriously Golden Boy? Absolutely no reason for anyone to spend money on this fight and turn around and do the same thing in September for Floyds rematch with Maidina.

Yeah, I'm probably not going to get either fight.

I'll get the Floyd fight because Floyd and the "threat" Marcos represents, but I would rather have seen him knock Khan around if he's not gonna fight Manny or bully Broner.

Let's face it. A Mexican national with a winning record and some skills will always be a money draw in the United States. Mexican Americans and Mexicans support their fighters. If he was any other race or ethnic b/g he would need to have a much more impressive resume. His PPV draw is more about the Mexican market demand, something Canelo or his promoters cannot be blamed for. Having the greatest Mexican American fighter of all time as your promoter does not hurt one bit either. Floyd Mayweather understands boxing economics and if you notice he gets the Mexican fans all worked up into a frenzy with his words and antics, driving their desire to pay to see him lose somehow. He then beats up their champion, thanks them for coming out to the fight, and thanks them for spending their PPV money. Look how appreciative he was after the Canelo fight. Not trying to make this a race or ethnic issue, but at the same time it is what it is.

FYI: I live in Houston and I'm not buying the fight either. I'll be watching the fight at a good friend's pad. He's Mexican American lol.

Not sure if Maidana will pose as much a threat to Floyd the second time around.

I have no input on Alvarez-Lara because I didn't see the fight, but it didn't seem too exciting.

Why isn't James Kirkland getting better fights at 154? The obvious answer is boxers are avoiding him. Is it that?
