the fact that floyd did not fight this guy instead of berto in his last fight is a disgrace....berto earned it, right floyd?

me either....he brings it every fight. he would have been a good choice for floyd's "final" fight too. instead of an overmatched mma fighter, floyd should pick either thurman or porter for his 50th fight. they deserve a shot.

Exactly. I like Berto but he definitely did not serve that fight. Berto has had exciting fights but only against fighters that want a slug fest which you know Floyd won't get into. Thurman is an undefeated fighter that definitely has the resume. Would've definitely sold better than that berto fight

it would be like fighting maidana but with more speed...not a good mix for floyd. heck, maidana caught floyd a few times that first fight and he's not as fast as thurman.

And I think Thurman is a smarter fighter too. He wouldn't be as wild or reckless as maidana

Despite the struggle Thurman showed me he's more than quickness and power-he's pretty tough too.

Porter is a beast. He has to be on the Pound For Pound best chin list.

Yes he is definitely that. He took some devastating shots. He did hurt Thurman once with that nice body shot when he started back peddling. But Thurman weathered that storm nicely

he's a good counterpuncher but porter made it easy coming at him all the time. floyd would not do that, for sure. however, thurman did preach defense after the fight, but he would need near-perfect defense to beat floyd.

And yeah, it was great fight.
                    Totally agree.
I loved Porter's heart and punch output, but Therman was landing more clean, power shots.
He visibly shook Porter on more than one occasion.
But full credit to Porter's chin. He took some huge shots and didn't go down.

I'd love to see a rematch.

And I loved seeing Deontey Wilder being interviewed. He's a very well spoken, affable champ. I loved hearing him call out all comers - whether he takes them all on is another thing. Everytime I see him interviewed, I become a bigger and bigger fan.
I don't like his matchup vs Areolla, but I'm not sure if that's more due to lack of available opponents?
I would love to see him step in the ring with Joshua.
The HW division is actually starting to look pretty good. As long as we can get Fury and Klitscho out of the way, I think we could be seeing a very nice resurgence of the Golden Division.

I enjoyed that Porter-Thurman fight. I didn't actually hear the booing, but I'm glad I didn't. I have no idea what fans want if they didn't like that fight (and I'm generally with Joe Sixpack when it comes to boxing/entertainment).

Porter is a lot bigger than I recall him being; I always seem to envision him being this short/small guy, but in the ring (on TV anyway) he looked as big - if not bigger- than Thurman. And I agree that he has a hell of chin - a lot of the shots he got hit flush with would've put the lights out on most other 147-lb'ers. And he has a really aggressive, swarming style, which means you're gonna get your money's worth when you watch him fight. All in all, I'd watch that fight again for sure.

I don't agree that Thurman would be much competition for Floyd, though, although I'd have been very happy to find out for sure. I think Thurman's fate would have been the same as every other dude Floyd fought, which is he'd probe and paw looking for an opening, and in the process get hit with 5-6 pot-shots per round, then after 12 rounds of relatively light action Floyd would win a decision. I don't see any way around that. Maidana (in the first fight) only made it rough because of his all-out style; anything less and you end up like every other Mayweather opponent, wondering why you didn't let your hands go at the end of the fight. I actually think Porter would be a much more interesting match-up against Mayweather because of his reckless style. Not that we'll ever see either fight.

Not during the fight. Many booed the decision.

ward vs. kovalev announced for november....however, ward vs. brand set for august. they should put this fight on pbc, in my opinion. it would at least boost sales for the big ppv showdown.

You know what is not smart? Announcing a fight when someone already has one lined up. All it takes is one injury or upset and that fight is done.
