Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Rios needs to seriously consider retiring. He takes so much punishment because his skills are so limited. Guy's words already are slurring in interviews, and he's only 31.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

missed it too but saw the highlights....pretty impressive. rios is a step down for garcia after thurman, but i'm sure him getting back on the winning track was the focus for his promotion team. i think a top 5 opponent should definitely be next for him.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Definitely. Porter, Thurman rematch, Kell Brook (if he's active), Spence all good candidates. Hell, I'd even watch Garcia beat the snot out of Khan or Broner.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

he seems re-focused and motivated after his loss to thurman....he may be even better than before. may even take on riskier fights now that he has that loss under his belt.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Andy Lee retires.
Loved his heart and the fact he didn't duck anyone.
Would have loved to see him fight Alvarez. Oh well.
Great quote here;
Steward recalls when Lee first moved to Detroit. As soon as his plane landed he was in the Kronk gym ready to spar. ” He pulled a mouthpiece of his pocket and borrowed boots and gloves from some guys in the gym and was ready to go. So I put him in with Cornelius Bundrage who was undefeated at time and I’ll be doggone if he did not beat K-9 down”. That is who Andy Lee was.*
His fights were always entertaining.Last edited by Money99; 02-25-2018, 09:03 AM.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Really enjoyed the Rungvisai-Estrada bout last night.
Some people had Rungvisai winning by a large margin, but I thought the bout was extremely competitive with Estrada only losing by 2 points.
Rungvisai's story is truly amazing. Guy quit Muay Thai to become a pro boxer, moves to Japan and goes 1-2-1 in his first 4 bouts.
Dusts himself off, starts learning and eventually becomes a champ.
His wins over Gonzalez were in the sphere as Foreman's and Buster Douglas' shocking victories over a seemingly invincible opponent.
On a different note.
I was shocked when I saw that Rungvisai weighted over 130 when he stepped in the ring for a 115-max fight.
I really want this gone from all combat sports. I'd love to see weigh-in's take place 2 hours before the fight.
When I was in Vancouver for the Fight Night demo, both Sergio Mora and Shane Mosley were adamantly against this.
I understand why. Why wouldn't someone not want the possible advantage of coming in much larger than their opponent?
But it's an unfair advantage and in some cases, very unsafe (Gatti-Gamache comes to mind).
IMO, it's akin to PED use.
In my dream world, there are only the 8 original weight classes + Cruiserweight and weigh-ins are 2-hours before fight time with a 1-5 lb cushion (depending on the weight class).Comment

Entertaining fight with Rungvisai powering his way to a hard-earned victory. I thought Kellerman was talking up Estrada's performance a wee bit too much, although I wasn't surprised that one judge had it a draw.Comment

You know when you have to go but he certainly wasn't on a steep downward trajectory. He would not have won against Alvarez or GGG but I would have liked to see him fight Jacobs or Charlo. I wish him well as Wlad does.
Rungvisai weighed 129.6, Estrada 126.2.

On my telecast they showed him weighing 130.1lbs.
