Not surprised in the least. AJ has a glass jaw and is a slow starter. He’s also been avoiding top contenders for a while.
Wilder would murder him. And he and his team knew this.
AJ is incredibly overrated and looking how he’s accepting defeat, I don’t think he has the heart to be a true champion.

Congrats to Ruiz he stood in the pocket faced adversity and did work..Joshua is painfully slow and for a boxee that is as chiseled as him.he gets gassed too much..I dont know how many fighters have to learn that you take big money fights while they are hot without trying to milk it for more money and time..Joshua took too many chances fighting anyone other than Wilder and now he and Dazn have to pay the price..Dazn is stuck and has to pay him that contract..even if he comes back and beats ruiz in a rematch the luster is off the Wilder fight..Wilder almost blew it fighting Ortiz and Fury ..at this point Wilder would destroy Joshua..Spence and Crawford need to take heed and fight before one of them loses..

I was shocked. Ruiz's fast hands, quick counters, and power were underestimated by all.

Joshua never recovered from round three damage. First, the left hook to the temple in mid-round that rubberized his legs and then some very flush direct shots at the very end of the round.

Is it just me or is anyone looking forward to Ruiz-Joshua II at Wembley?

And I say that knowing full well that AJ has been very diminished by tonight's results.

The strangest part was how he acted like it didn't bother him one bit to lose the heavyweight championship belts. Even smiling.

I mean, he did seem classy and the very opposite of a sore loser, but it was a bit too much in the other direction and felt very odd to me.

So-called boxing fans are disrespectful to Andy Ruiz Jr. and trying to disrespect and discredit his win. If you know boxing. Ruiz had something like a 110-5 amateur record. Yet people couldn’t overcome his physical appearance. He isn’t some bum fighter.

I actually am interested in the rematch to see how Joshua responds and to also see whar Ruiz can truly do with a long camp and new condfidence as champ..I agree with what others have said about Joshuas reaction to the loss while it was respectful he didnt seem to concerned about the loss and it almost look like he was relieved..I think at this point that fight exposed alot of what us boxing fans knew about him concerning his jaw..Looking forward to Wilder vs Ortiz..

But Joshua seem to me like he wasn't all there, like he was high or something. Very weird.

Joshua equilibrium was still off. That's why he stayed in the corner to keep his legs from giving out. It hard to get your balance back after being hit behind the ear.

I'm not too surprised that AJ lost and got KO'd. The last few of his fights that I saw was a boxer with little to no movement. Lacks footwork and is a straight ahead fighter. He's easy pickings for a fighter who moves a lot or a fighter/brawler like Wilder.

He does NOT want to fight Wilder because he lacks the technique to get out of the way of Wilder's booming shots. If I could give AJ one piece of advice is that he needs a new team. How a chiseled and ripped fighter with his physique who looks like a modern day Ken Norton should not have too much trouble with a fighter such as Ruiz.

I don't know if it's too late in his career to change his style but he badly needs to improve his footwork or the results will be the same when he goes up against Ruiz unless Ruiz goes into the rematch too confident and gets sloppy.

I saw the 3rd round AFTER reading comments on here. I think AJ looked decent and was surprised to see his powerful knockdown. Ruiz has a chin! and he clipped him at least twice more with big straight right hands.

AJ didn't look slow or like he didn't know what he was doing at all imo - he got clipped awkwardly and went downhill from there. I still think AJ beats both Fury and Wilder. I think AJ is more susceptible to getting hit with left hooks than rights, so in a Wilder fight I think he will hit more than he gets hit and I think he will actually take Wilder out - I hope that fight still happens, but it's hilarious how the boxing culture discredits someone after a loss. Shouldn't be that way, they are heavyweights for crying out loud.

Thats fine respect your opinion but you do realize that he has been hurt in all his last 4 fights and besides his chin being like china he is slow reaction wise and heavy legged...in reality boxing fans knew he was vulnerable and the question was could he survive a fight to get to the wilder fight..He might hang with wilder for 4 rounds simply because both will be cautious in the beginning but no way he survives that right hand..Fury and Ortiz have superor technical skills and would outbox him until he gets gassed and he will be done..the fans in his country put him on this pedestal but in america there was still doubt which is why he had to come here to fight. Ruiz is a good fighter no doubt but these bigget heavyweights with just as good as skill and technique will beat him he is just too small..I dont think.Joshua had the mental toughness to come back.from this he looked relieved and wanted a way out...

Just read that Joshua was knocked out in sparring leading up to fight and his father wanted to pull him out the fight..apparently Joshua himself has a fragile phsyche whrn it comes to his chain..this could explain why he seemed off , relieved, and distant..

He still has snappy punches when he's tired, so I thought you guys meant 'slow' like a UFC fighter I used to love - marin kampmann, he was a champ kickboxer, but when gassed threw weak sloppy slow stuff.

Anyway, I just don't give Wilder much respect - look at everyone's resume's.

Fury looks like crap very often imo and has zero power. I can't stand that guy, besides one fight with Wilder, he is one of the most boring heavyweights I can remember. Now he's best known for 'taking a shot' vs Wilder.

Wilder just isn't that great of a pure boxer, and is awkward. His resume isn't as good and I can see him losing against AJ a number of different ways. That's not to say he couldn't win, but I'm not sold on him being all that special. It wasn't until the fury fight that people began to hype him up as a superstar and as I said earlier, I don't think Fury is great. Stivern 1 was a good fight and Nipples is alright, but Povetkin, Parker and Klitschko are better tests.

We can agree to disagree, but I still think Joshua is a very good heavyweight and capable of beating both Fury and Wilder.
