EA UFC 2 - How's Your Universe Going

So if you had a fight that ended in Rd 2 by submission for example, would you limit when those two can fight again?



Sorry just trying to get some ideas, I haven't thought of anything that I like on my own yet haha

If a guy gets a 1 or 2 rnd stoppage, I will typically book him immediately. Since I book 3 mos in advance that typically means they won't fight again for at least 90 days. If it's a decision, it's usually 4-6.

If someone is kod in the first it's typically 6 mos before I will book them again.

Thank you for this, I was confused on how long to wait.. If I have a #1 contenders match say UFC 1; would UFC 4 be good for the title fight?

Also, last thing I'm confused on, what is determined as 5 rounds vs 3? I know title are always 5 but how do you guys decide this? Thanks!!

It depends on when you run events. I run events in accordance with the real UFC calendar so that spreads out fights. I'll give you an example: Cerrone won the LW belt by second round KO in December and he is booked to defend it in April.

I make it so that fighters will at least fight 2-3 times a year. More if they are winning fights quickly.

5 round fights are only title fights and non-championship main events. Everything else is 3.

How do you handle updating your rankings following fights?

Streaks, results and finishes. After each event, I look at each winner and determine if they should move into the top 10 or move up if they were already in the top 10.

The first thing I do is take a look at their current win streak and their record in their last 5 fights.

Then I look at who they have fought in their last 5 fights and if any of those guys were ranked when they fought.

Then I look at the guys currently above the fighter. If he has a better winning streak, last 5 record and has been beating top 10 fighters, that fighter will likely move up.

Notes:
- Rory nailed an armbar late in the 3rd Round in a very exciting and competitive fight. The win derails Thompson's title hopes and puts Rory back on track, although he would need at least one more win to get another shot at Robbie.
- Cat Zingano's showed no Octagon rust in her return and was dominate with a 30-26 Unanimous Decision. With the win Cat will moves to a top contender of the Women's Bantamweight Division and could get a rematch against Tate since Ronda is out until at least November.

UFC FN 4 (TUF Finale)

Notes:
- Jedrzejczyk was dominate once again and looks to be unstoppable at this point. There is talk of a four women tournament with the winner get the next shot at Joannna, however nothing is set in stone just yet.
- Barao went up a weight-class and held his own against slugger Jeremy Stephens, but in the end lost in a Split Decision (29-28, 30-27, 28-29). Look for him to move back to BW for his next contest.
- BJ Penn returned to the octagon after a long layoff and looked great, winning by Gogoplata late in the 2nd Round. He wants to work his way up the FW ladder so look for him to get a Top 10-15 guy next.

UFC 4 is my UFC 200 and will feature and unprecedented three five round fights. Edgar/Aldo 2 will be for the interim FW title, Condit get another shot at UFC gold in his immediate rematch with Lawler and Conor/Nate 2, but this time at Lightweight.

Future Announcements:

RDA was injured again therefore his fight against Eddie Alvarez was pushed back to 8/13 which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Co-Main Event for that card will be Tyron Woodley vs Demian Maia.

- UFC Fight Night 5 will be held in New Orleans on 8/20 with Cormier vs OSP as the Main Event. Louisiana natives Dustin Poirier, Derrick Lewis, Liz Carmouche and former LSU Fullback Shawn Jordan also are slated to be on this card.

- The big news is MMA has been legalized in New York and the UFC teased a massive card for UFC 10 which will take place on 12/31/16. Jon Jones, Chris Weidman, Conor McGregor, Frankie Edgar, Rashad Evans and even GSP names were all being thrown around as soon as this event was announced. Stay tuned for more details.

Jeremy, I downloading your spreadsheet as I have no idea how to set one up myself and I've never tried doing a universe. For some fighters like Luke Rockhold, his MMA record + a few other entries in the Master tab say error. Do you know what would cause this?

I'm using Libre office and I also tried google spreadsheets. Do I have to use MS excel?

Some formulas only work for excel. I tried on my other PC with OpenOffice and same thing. Luckily, i had office 2016 on laptop! Lol.

Ah that sucks. I'm messing around with it now on Excel online but it won't update some fighter stats when I put them in Event History. For some it'll work fine and others not at all.

EDIT: I can get it to update the winners, but not update the loser's record. That's all I need help with. ACtually it looks like when I put in a winner it also takes away one of their losses while adding a win.

Probably not going to get Microsoft Office just for this, unfortunately.

Great work on the spreadsheet, really makes the game a lot more enjoyable. Only advice I have if you haven't already are that a few of the fighter's names are spelled incorrectly. Off the top of my head Gustafson is supposed to be Gustafsson, Uriah Faber - Urijah Faber, Ali Baugautdinov - Ali Baugautinov, Rory McDonald - Rory MacDonald. I downloaded an earlier version so could be fixed already. Otherwise great work and thank you!

Also, how is everyone running the Ultimate Fighter Events? Are you introducing two new fighters at each event?
