Re: Official EA UFC 2 "Teach me how/strategy" thread

I can give it another go. For the time being I stopped because it was hard to get motivated to make videos if only two people are interested.

I haven't given up on it, one of these days maybe I'll knock them out.

What's the difference in ground cards?? Can't find a answer anywhere!

Eg:what's the difference ( apart from stats ) between Bjj reversals 3* and 5* or wrestling transitions default and 4*

I don't know what cards to use for what transitions and reversals so I just put my highest card on even though I don't need the ground stats. I would like to know which ones I do and don't need.

      Thanks in advance

Is there a way to deal with transition fakes ?

I thought I read that GPD said they can be denied and reversed, but I've never done it. I don't like the big penalty it gives you for trying to deny. For me it's just a guessing game right now.

Anyone know the logic about modified transitions from submissive full guard. Sometimes it gives you mount, sometimes side control and sometimes over/under.

I figure it gives you over/under if you are near cage, but I don't know why sometimes you get dominant side control and sometimes dominant mount.

I'm talking about L1 and down on thumbstick from submissive full guard.

It's stamina thing. If you gas the person on top out, as they regain stamina, you can actually watch the HUD change from full mount to side control to whatever is or isn't normally there.

Yup! L1 RS Down from Full Guard is quality. Now that I know to look for it, I'm using it to good effect.

I should edit these posts and remove that transition, lol

If my guy in UT has Bjj/wrestling reversals and transitions by default and his ground stats are maxed out do I still need to use my 5* cards? Do they give me any reversals/ transitions that airnt there by default? Or is it a waste off time putting them on?
Same with core ground moves. If my ground stats are maxed out do I still need core ground moves 5*? Or do the cards only give you stat boost?

Since you are unable to block or strike in sub side control and crucifix, what are the available strategies?

There is actually a few, all depending on what your opponent's tendencies and expectations are. First and for most, strikes from side control and crucifix CANNOT disrupt a transition. I'm also certain that there is no grapple advantage reward for these strikes. Don't play the wait to block a punch and transition game like you do in other transitions. This is a move when they move type of scenario, but that is just the surface. Your movement stops there strikes. That being said, the positions play out different because of the instant hip bump you have in the crucifix.

Edit: If you're just looking for something to try and apply off the bat for side control, fake the sprawl and then go into the getup/single leg, or fake then go to half guard/full guard/get up...depending on your move set. From Crucifix it's easy, don't spam transitions unless you KNOW your opponent is going to throw an immediate strike. Just chill and wait for him to throw, and then move.

Seemingly good advice... I'll try it next time.

On sort of the same topic, when is the best time to transition during a strike to get an arm trap or reversal, right when you see it, mid point, as it is hitting you?

I feel silly for asking, but how do I instant message someone following the end of a match (I play unranked, mostly)

Probably close to the same answer, is there an easy way to send a friend request, or do I have to write their tag down?
