Re: Official EA UFC 2 "Teach me how/strategy" thread

    a few advanced grappling questions...

    Transition Fakes:
    1. Do you experts just flick the stick and then hold the other direction or do you fill the meter half for example and then hold the other direction?
    2. For me its hard to deny the actual transition after a fake transition. Is there some trick? I normally hold a direction to deny, not just flick, is that the problem that it then does not recognize the other direction?

    thx in advance

General question on gameplay: do people like the complexity of denying moves? It some positions the deny seems common sense; in others it's more subtle. In the old versions there was only one deny move, and that was programmed (I think) to timing, stamina, and grappling ratings. I would prefer that way. What do others think?
You have to hold them to keep them from posturing up.

The denials are fine. The latency playing online makes them a nightmare. Just have to adjust your timing depending on if there is latency and how much. I'm glad they took away the preemptive denials, but it did make denials harder. Which is actually a good thing.

Denial for posturing up is R2 and Up on the right stick. It's one of the harder denials. Don't think it works in full mount.

I'm going to second this... again, and hopefully a knowledgeable player will see it.

I sometimes see counters and reversals and have no idea on how to do them. I figured that EA of all devs would understand that when you make new content, you parade it around and notify players as much as possible that it's there, instead of hiding it so 95% doesn't even know. If this was truly a hardcore game - which it's clearly not - I'd understand.

The only thing I know is that reversals are quick denials, and the left trigger alongside back can counter takedowns if some conditions are fulfilled. What are those conditions? I know some judo people like Rousey can do it. I know you have to input the denial really late to get the sprawl, but what's the deal with the special counter? And how can you reverse cage grappling?

And finally: the swoop. Tell new players what this is, because it doesn't make sense if you haven't played EA UFC1. I assume it's rotating the stick, but in what direction, how do you time it and what position do you end (or do you just keep turning)? The tutorial makes absolutely no mention of this or the counters. There is half-hidden post somewhere where a dev explains "the swoop" and its effects, but forgets to mention what it is exactly.

How are we supposed to know? You want us to randomly press buttons to discover secret moves. This ain't Mortal Kombat 2... :-)

            Totally agreed.

In addition to having more knowledge, the practice modes should incorporate all these techniques and nuances. Practicing denials against the computer is not effective for many positions. For example, it would be great if I could just remain in double under and focus on those denials. As it is, the computer has me in double under, I miss the denial, still don't know what to look for, and now I am in a different position.

Lately I've been going against people online who seem to have an endless amount of stamina to constantly stalk me around the octagon with, spamming strike after strike without what seems to be any or in the very least neglible stamina drain. Then when I throw strikes back I get gassed after one combo attempt. What exploit is this or how do I do defend against this strategy? Thanks.

Re: Official EA UFC 2 "Teach me how/strategy" thread

Noob question: just lost my first Championship defence match in UT because of the guy doing nothing but trying to clinch. I know the basic R2 to block the knee and R1 to block elbows to the head. I try to defend both, but have trouble predicting what one my opponent will use.

For example I hold R2 to block the knee to the face because they are way more powerful, but then he switches to elbow to the head so I hold R1 to block that then he switches back to knee to the head which I am too slow to block and eventually lose. Sick to death of the clinch and have been trying my best to learn how to defend it but still lose fights to it, annoying as hell. Not going into another championship fight until I figure out how to defend this ****.

Not sure if this is supposed to go here, but any help is appreciated.

I believe the correct strategy is to block punches/elbows with RB, and then if you see them gearing up for a knee strike (which takes longer), switch to RT. Takes practice.

This and dont hold down block in Thai Clinch, have found it easier to not hold a block button then press whichever button blocks high or low depending on whether u see movement to the head or legs(guess this depends on how quick your reflexes are and lag) then let got go once u have blocked. If you hold kick block but he goes to punches, then it takes a split second for the block to go neutral then into punch block, whereas if your not holding a block then it goes from neutral to punch block and the small time difference can make a difference.

Thanks guys but...championship fight again KO'd by the knee in clinch. He went for the knee straightaway which I blocked then the elbow which I blocked as well. Then tried to break it quickly but got caught out with the knee to the face. RIP.

I'm definitely more confident in blocking strikes in clinch however I need help breaking out of it or finding the right time to break it because most people are relentless in the clinch and just change from knee to elbow to knee to elbow giving me no time to break it.

                          Back Mount:

I've fought numerous people against whom, escaping back mount was impossible. Then I saw a Martial Mind video (searching for an answer) in which he gives up the round when someone takes his back.

So the question is, how is this being done? I can't hold back mount when I get there, and knowing there is a way to completely control the position makes this even more obnoxious.

Back mount control and escape tips would be much appreciated

                          Thanks

for breaking out of the clinch remember when in thai clinch elbows/punches dont stop transitions anymore so if u see someone going for elbow u should be able to transition out of thai clinch into single collar before they manage to get there next knee in after the punch/elbow. I always transition out as allot of peeps in the higher division know how to block clinch break very easily, u also have to mix up which direction u transition out as good players may not block you the first time u transition out but they will assume u r going to transition the same way and be waiting for u on the next one

Can you block get ups from all postured positions? Can you reverse or deny their transition after an arm catch?
