A few ways. The surefire way to always get a takedown is after a checked leg kick. If you check a leg kick you'll always get the takedown if you go for it right away.
Then there's just whiffing on kicks in general. Missed head kicks, missed leg kicks, etc, all give you a much better chance of landing a takedown.
And then there's queuing them which you can now do after the last patch. Go for a couple strikes and have the takedown queued up so you shoot immediately after your last punch lands.
Another good way, if you find your normal takedowns are getting denied, is get them from the clinch. You can queue a clinch just like a takedown. So get inside with some punches and then queue up the single collar clinch. Fake one direction and go the other for the takedown, or block one of their transitions and you'll get the takedown.
But they nerfed takedowns and grappling bad. They made it much harder to get takedowns and made it a lot easier for the opponent to get up. I'm hoping they fix this because I love grappling but at it's current state is significantly harder to do it effectively. The devs listened to a few whiny ****s who sucked on the ground, complaining about being taken down all the time and mauled by the khabibs and gsp's so they basically put a huge handicap on grappling. Im hoping it gets fixed in an upcoming patch.Last edited by GrindFactor; 04-20-2018, 08:37 AM.Comment

There is no way this is true, but it really seems the game was designed and tweaked to reward a very particular style of unrealistic cheese. Everything outside of that gets punished or nerfed drastically.
(I'm not claiming that I try and play realistically, it's not possible with current meta)
The devs will do their best to balance things out, but players who really want to win are remarkably good at finding some other bull**** to exploit.
Whatever the game, there will always be a meta and I will always hate it. The trick is to not take it personally when other people embrace the meta and beat my ***. Work in progress.Comment

People who want to win, and have no regard for what others regard as fun, honorable, or realistic will always do whatever is most likely to get them wins. Seen it happen in shooters I've gotten into. Can see it happening in this game, too.

If you're joking that's funny, if not, you do you. I just see it a lot and want better for players.
Is something wrong with me?Comment

Question for custom fight now ? What percentage of stamina slider replicates the stamina in fight now mode ? Perhaps alhobert could answer or anyone else

If you leave the sliders as they are it should be the same as fight now mode. Not 100% sure tho.Comment

Having trouble dealing with rapid combo spam. The block breaks so quickly now that if you get rocked first, it's very hard to come back from as health regen also is much slower.
I'm working on my head movement to slip strikes but when the opponent is just launching 1 2's 1 2's and other combos at you, you can't slip them all and since your block can now get eaten away by jabs (which is ridiculous) I'm finding it very hard to be defensive and counter these pressure combo spammers.
If anyone has any tips, specifically video of how you successfully deal with opponents like this, I'd love to see it.
I feel like the game is rock um sock um robots now. Whoever initiates the combo spam first wins as the other player's block vanishes and health doesn't regenerate so you just keep getting rocked and dropped until eventually, it's over. It's like every match feels like 50/50. Whoever combo spams first wins.
So help with dealing this this style would be greatly appreciated.Comment
