I don’t have a capture card. Unless Twitch can be used directly from the Xbox. I will mess around and Google some things. Recording footage is something I haven’t ever thought about seriously, so I’m pretty ignorant on the subject.

I have good timing in the game, know the strike inputs, how to deny transitions, and have been doing and watching combat sports my whole life, so I also have a decent understanding of "how to fight", and with this game being as relatively realistic as it is, that means I have a decent understanding of "how to play".

But I'm getting kind of frustrated with this game. I feel a bit bad about it lol, as it really is a GREAT fighting game. But something is just off. First of all, I simply can't play ranked. I feel like I'm being matched with these killers all the time, way above my level. They know exactly when to shoot, exactly when to throw a jumping knee, even though I'm simultaneously punching them or even having them rocked. So I play play now, but that's way too easy, where guys are just flailing around throwing ungrounded six-hook combos. I rarely get a matchup, where I actually feel like we're on the same level.

Grappling frustrates me as well. Not the ground game specifically. Well, I hate it, because you have to fake transitions like a moron, and it just feel undynamic (same for the clinch), but I've accepted that fact. But the takedowns. Wow! Good players can just get me to the ground whenever they feel like, it feels. It feels undeniable lol. I really don't know what to do. It really kills it for me. Like, I meet a good player, and I'm really excited about it, because I'm keeping him a kicking range, teeping him, jabbing him, keeping him at bay. And suddenly, he shoots, and even though I feel like my TDD timing is on point, he gets me down. Really weird...

My last frustration, might just be my own lack of defensive striking skills, but I'm really tired of forward pressure fighters, who just have the stamina, blocking, combo and block breaking down. Who can just walk forward, rip combos and break my block eventually. It's soooooo tiresome to face these players. I remember hating the parrying system in the last UFC game, but there should be some parrying I feel like. It shouldn't give me a window to just throw an unblock able three-four strike combo, but it should give me some room to breath and get out of the way.

Yeah, just wanted to vent, and see if anyone feels like me, or if I am just being a crybaby here. Just annoys me that I so rarely have competitive fights. I either dominate or get dominated (last one exclusively by grapplers or forward pressure, combo-whiffing players).

However, this is by far the greatest MMA game ever. Actually, I rank it above Fight Night Champions even as fighting game, due to the higher level of dimensions in creating an MMA game versus a boxing game, and due to these developers constant free updates and ongoing attention to detail. Big up to the devs, that's for sure!!!

      you re not alone
i think game pretty much failed and probably more ppls played ufc2

the biggest problem is absence of any real tutorial
that official "tutorial" they have there, i mean imagine u never played UFC before and u just bought game right now, well with that tutorial u will probably end up loosing every fight

only good thing there is UFCdev diary because that will give u some good practical tips

i really dont understand why would someone put so much time and energy into game, but wont provide any explanation for game mechanics, so people can learn, this going around youtube, forums etc. is getting old

if u want people to do detective work for free in 2018/2019 just to play one game, guess what will happen? they wont play it

      it s just sad

That's actually a new one for me. Especially considering the fact that your post was longer than any of mine. People conduct themselves like you so often on this board and wonder why I hold so much disdain for it.

Retracted, I appreciate the majority of your posts when it comes to information, but you can tone down on being condescending for just one moment, and simply just provide guidance for the new player. We all know you get drastically annoyed when people complain about the learning curve, or repeat themselves etc etc, but let's face it: The Tutorials in this game are mediocre and have yet to be updated since launch.

For new players, looking up the most recent patch notes will let you know where the game is at currently and what has been implemented thus far.

Get the EA SPORTS UFC 5 Ultimate Edition to stack your roster with fighters and Alter Egos.

There are some good YouTube Channels that have some instructional tips, but be aware that some may be outdated due to the recent patches.

Ricky J. Sports has some good stuff with regards to starting people off, as does IMUHBOXER. MartialMind also has great content, but where you will really learn from is his gameplay and pick up what you see from there. My channel, I have a Counter Striking video explaining vulnerability and good counters to intercept certain strikes, and most recently a video dealing with 'spammable' moves in ranked (Knees, Side Kicks, etc). SolidAltair, although he doesn't say a word in his videos, has great things as well, I believe the most recent thing from him were the block counters. MMAGAME has a few things as well.

Now what I DO agree with RetractedMonkey on, is that players cannot expect to waltz into any competitive game, and simply wreck anybody. You can't do that in Xenoverse, can't do it in FighterZ, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, Tekken, etc etc because with any game that requires an iota of skill, there needs to be SOME time used to get better at it. Why buy a game, if you won't take the time to learn it?

Patience is key, and there are plenty of resources available NOW compared to when the game launched initially that can help any new player get acclimated to the current meta in less than 2 weeks.

The game has been booming recently on PS4 with as high as 14k-15k people online, and in comparison to UFC 2 this game is MUCH better.

There's obviously a lot of things that can always be worked upon, and I have a few ideas if my thoughts were needed, but it is likely they're already working on UFC 4, so the time is now to ask for things that you'd wish to be implemented.

Lol I can tell you’re an old school gamer.

You can twitch directly from the xbox app. You can even set your twitch account to upload everything directly to youtube if you want. It’s pretty easy to record/upload nowadays.

This is an escape from actually having to respond to my rebuttal. Just call me a troll and take an easy way out instead of finishing the argument that *ahem* you started.

I love helping people. That’s mainly why I’m here. I like to teach and make players better. I also like to argue. Unfortunately, many people here don’t respond to help/critique without getting emotional. Therefore, I end up doing a lot of the second thing.

Re: Great game, but I have frustrations

I am going to help this silly conversation along.

                        BOTH SIDES ARE RIGHT!!!!

                        1. Yes if you want to get good at this game you need to play it. There is a high learning curve when it comes to the meta. I like the ground game. I have figured out a pretty good way to flow between side control, crucifix, stacked guard and postured up open guard. Also I have a gotten good at switching up my striking style to set up a rear high kick from the south paw stance to counter a jab. Gets me plenty of rocks. Those are things that I would only have learned by playing the game. Its part of the games meta. If you aren't going to put the work into the game you just aren't going to find those little set-ups that work.

                        HOWEVER!!!!!!
The problem is not the meta. Its the actual rules themselves. The game does a pathetic job of showing you how to actually do things because of hidden rules that don't make sense. Why can I get a free leg grab takedown when pummeling out of MT clinch. What is the correct way to block certain cage takedowns, why does hitting the alt button mid transition change the transition. I could keep going. It should be a mystery and up to the user to figure out when and why to do a particular move offensive or defensive, it should never be a mystery of how to actually do it.

If you notice lvl 4 and below dudes seem to NOT know HOW to do stuff. But at lvl 5 and up most dudes know how. This to me creates and artificially imbalance of skill. Because those dudes who don't know how will complain of a broken mechanic or an unstoppable thing etc. I am not going to lie, I have 100% beaten dudes not because I am better, but because I knew things about the game they clearly did not. And if you think you have not you are kidding yourself

The tutorial should explain EVERY aspect. They should possible weave that into single player training or practice mode or something.

To figure out that if you fake a takedown in MT clinch and then can get a free knee if they don't reset block. This type of thing needs to be stated explicitedly. You should not have to go to a website or twitter to learn these things.

                        so in summary...

If you want to get good at the meta you need to put the time in
If you want to get good at knowing how to do things it should be explained.
