I don’t know if there’s much to say at this point. Especially when they’ve sold more than ever before.

The marketing team has been pretty clear about what kind of game is being pushed.

You just gotta decide if it’s a game you want to play or if you’ll move on.

I meant talked about in the sense that it shouldn't be forgotten or swept under the rug, if that makes sense. Just a reminder, if you will, that's all. At times I feel people forget what they're actually being served. But yeah, at the same time I do realise people have spoken through their wallets and that's all that really matters.

But what do you mean with this part:

But when we make arguably the best standup striking system in any combat sport game ever, that is geared 100% towards the hard core audience what happens? You **** all over it anyway.

So why cater to you anymore?
Because that is how I read it.

I believe the narrative of UFC 4’s success is quite skewed, and it’s more than just marketing to casuals. Pretty sure all professional sports except the UFC on ESPN being absent upped viewership of this sport tremendously. The gaming industry as a whole saw a massive surge including M$ claiming gamepass subs were up 5mil. This game being absent from EA’s showcase, then doing a shotgun marketing campaign just before Madden was good timing for them as well. Let’s also consider the loyal fan base was starving for the next iteration after the longest period of titles released of the series. Circumstance and timing are the name of the game in business marketing, but you only get to pull these types of moves so much before they bite you in the ***. The consensus of the player base is we got burned. Personally I’m disappointed and shocked that this is the product we ultimately have. Sales may be great, but I don’t see this release as healthy for the franchise’s future. I’m sure UFC 4’s tail will be much shorter regardless of the dumpster fire sales we’ll eventually see.

I dont believe the "player base" anymore.

I believe that when UFC 5 comes on next gen consoles with new and improved graphics...the same "player base" will buy the game even if they continue to market it towards casual fans.

They will recycle the same "gift" excuses and the same cycle will continue. If UFC 4 wasnt enough to keep this crowd from buying the game (or their wives or girlfriends) nothing will.

I think in this particular case there's more to it than just the realism vs. arcade situation, though. The debate does not end with "is this game too arcadey for my liking?". This is just a poor product that reeks of cash grabbing and lack of any sort of desire to create something worthwhile, even if its target audience is a casual one. This is half-assed as half-assed gets, just put it out and collect the cash. It just screams lack of effort.

I have a different view. IMO, its not laziness or a lack of effort. Its where they chose to focus their attention and effort on.

Even with that said, it doesnt change my point.

People here had multiple opportunities to play the game without buying it a full price and still did. So if its your reasoning or mine, it doesnt really matter.

If EA, put out a half assed game....90% of this community bought that game at full price.

If EA put out a game where they focused on casual fans....90% of this community bought it at full price.

I bought the game because i play offline and use sliders to get the game to play how i want. I bought it with the hopes that the post release support will continue to improve the game.

Sure, this is fair, but a lot of passionate posturing were in those posts. I’ve also not seen a lot of those people post, suggesting they have moved on. As well, there are new names that picked up with the same complaints. I think there is a constant, dedicated, angry, hardcore base with any game that has issues, but yes... some fade out and new ones trickle in. I’ve personally never threatened to not buy the product, in fact I support it despite me believing it’s the worst product they’ve released with UFC 1 getting a pass. It’s gotta get to WWE battlegrounds quality for me to bail, and honestly I think this is rock bottom. I also never believed much of the personal boycott threats made in these forums. If you’re going to spend so much time on a dedicated game forum, it’s expected you’re going to actually participate in playing the game, good or bad, right?

I dont know. I'm being serious.

I think if a game is that much of a problem that I spend hours and hours and days and days on a forum complaining about it....I dont buy the next version of the game.

I find something else to do with my time or I adjust and accept the game for what it is.

                              Maybe its just me though.
