Holy crap are the controls deep. I might have to slug it out a la Manhoef.

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
How can you people actually like this game? Are you kidding me, with this?
Psych, this game is crazy. I'm not into MMA at all to tell you the truth, only watched maybe 3 fights in my life and the only one I can remember is when Kimbo Slice got F'ed up in the first round. But playing this is nuts. I was getting my work in on Rua with elbow jammies and all that. Game is hot. Might have to put this on the list for purchase. The blood effects is ridiculous nice. Had this cat on the canvas working his cut and blood kept splattering on the canvas from the punches. That was crazy.
Only gripes I had was twice I knocked Rua out cold on his feet and he fell over on me but I stayed in the fighting stance and couldn't do anything. Would be nice if I could step back and look at him slide off me or keep punching and let the ref come break it up. Other than that, and maybe the speed could be just a tad faster not much just a little, this game is on point.Comment

Wow, colored me very surprised and impressed. I am not an MMA fan but, the demo is amazing. I was surprised at the depth of the presentation. The announcing is good, and the post game replays are real nice as well. I am a believer I will buy this game now.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
I agree T11, it is very deep. BUT the controls are really not that deep once you learn what you are doing. I find the tutorials to be to vague, you got to put the time in with fighting to learn the controls first hand. After 3 days now with the game I have a solid grasp on the controls and they are really simple and are mapped perfectly to the controller.
The thing that makes the game so deep is the different attacks methods, counters, sweep, submission, transitions, transition blocking, clinching, muay thai clinch, throws, sprawls, on and on and on. There is just so many options at hand to approach a fight and have a game plan on how to fight a fighter. Like you mentoned a FOR SURE MUST HAVE!!
Yeah man it is crazy deep. Like I said it blows the Dreamcast game out the water and I though that was going to be IMPOSSIBLE to do. That one was so much fun but this here takes the cake. I wish THQ/Yukes would have put this time and commitment into the SVR series but that another story for another day lol.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
THIS is authenticity, ladies and gentlemen. Awesome commentary, real presentation, real referees, real ring girls, Bruce Buffer...WOW. I was floored. Why THQ still can't pull off something this authentic for WWE games is beyond me. The voice acting is the POLAR OPPOSITE of what you would see in an SVR. Goldberg, Rogan, Buffer, the referee, the trainers...everything just sounds and feels like something you would watch on TV.
Great controls as well, at first I thought it was going to be an attack-fest but I learned the controls in the Tutorial and then got to fighting some logical matches. Also, I love how matches don't have to end in the first ten seconds like previous MMA titles. They nearly nailed the pacing on this one IMO. Can't wait to go GSP on some poor schmoe.Owner of URWL CAW WRESTLING: http://www.rantboard.net/Comment

I REALLY suggest you guys play through the tutorial. Everything is easily explained and you can practice in there.
I am as big a UFC fan/MMA fan as there is and THIS may be my favorite game of all time when all is said and done. The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!Comment

Submissions aren't THAT HARD to get, I haven't played against the CPU but against my friend on the demo I was able to pull off a triangle choke, armbar, and kimora with Rua.Comment

Another video from the same game session as the first one... sorry for the weird jerkiness. The first KO is just brutal... those high kicks are awesome when they really connect.

That's the BIG difference lol. Try it against the CPU on any level higher than beginner and see how it works for you.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
What is the Shogun equivalent to Chuck's big overhand right and Superman punch, and how do you do it? I was playing earlier today, and get holding LB and then striking, and all Shogun would throw is straight jabs.Comment
