Re: Official UFC 09 Undisputed Career progression thread

Started up a career yesterday as a middleweight. I'm a Muay Thai/BJJ guy with good clinch offense and good submissions. Overall though, my guy sucks, and looks nothing like me because im terrible at recreating my likeness in CAF's. He's 8-5,which isnt a terrible record, but I started off 1-4 and was afraid I was gonna get kicked out the UFC for being a terrible fighter. I've already had a trilogy against another terrible fighter (Brian Evans ranked 24) and two fights against some equally bad scrub named Donovan (ranked 22).

I went on a nice 5 match win streak and got a little cocky, and scheduled Amir Sabollah (sp?) who was ranked around 12. He took me down seemingly 30 times in our match, owned me on the mat and then just pounded my face in in the 3rd round. Looking to bounce back tonight. I wish I could fight Donovan and Evans again. Loved whupping on those guys.

UFC keeps offering me photo shoots and I keep turning em down because my guy doesnt deserve it. His *** needs to be in the gym as much as possible.

Re: Official UFC 09 Undisputed Career progression thread

with my new formula, i set the difficulty to experienced til i get my 1st camp invite. Then i bump it up to advanced. From there it is a WHOLE new game where playing to your strengths is SO important.

The difference from experienced to advanced seems to be 1 real big change...Fighters fight the way they should. less KO's every fight, more TKO's and a few more decisions.

Love the challenge this game throws at you. One fight you own a guy the entire fight. The rematch can/will play completely different.

Is there any way to ensure you get a lot of fights throughout your career? I think I fought about 13 so far and I'm in year 3, doesn't seem like I'll get to 24 fights (like above) by the end of year 4... I also skip all those photoshoot things, they seem useless. 200 points and a wasted week of training. No thanks.

        Anyway, I'm 13-0 right now.

Anybody know if turning down publicity has any negative effects overall save for the CRED you're not gaining?

Not that I'm aware of... you won't get the sponsor's shorts and stuff like that if you don't do spokesman-like stuff for them, but in terms of cred or things like that, there's no negative affects that I've seen.

Not that I've seen. I skipped probably 75% of those things in the last half of my career. If it didn't fit into my spar/rest/spar/rest/fight schedule, I wasn't doing it. I certainly didn't notice any ill effects.

I created a HW (The Grim Reaper, boxer, wrestler) and am going through the whole career on Advanced. Lost my entry fight but was able to improve to 5-2, with a couple of wins against the Russian guy.

Next up for me was a bout with Eddie Sanchez. First round was Eddie's, he was more active and overall did a good job of dominating me. The second round was close but I would have given me the edge with a couple of nice takedowns that I just could not get to mount before he would get out. The third round I was dominating, at one point I had him so gassed that I was able to deliver 5 kicks to the body and 5 or 6 shots to the head before he even responded. Unfortunately that left me gassed (I went into the fight at 73% stamina, my fault) and Eddie catches me with a right hook that stuns me to the ground. He jumps over me and starts raining down punches, I figured that is it he is going to KO me. I managed to get out of the dazed stage and back to my feet, there was a little over 30 seconds to go in the fight. I backed away trying to clear my head and survive the fight and see if hopefully the decision would still be mine. At 15 seconds I decided that is no way to win a fight so I engage Eddie with a body shot followed by a right to his head. I am feeling good when Eddie catches me with a right hand and this time it is lights out with 10 seconds left in the third.

I was Po'd. I get the email after the fight with my next opponents and one of the three choices was Eddie Sanchez, which I quickly accepted. The rematch is on tonight and this time Eddie is going down.

Cool story. Thats one thing I like about this game, you seem to develop genuine rivalries with guys and you can't wait to get that rematch. I've had three fights against one guy already I went 2-1 against him and I got a rematch victory against a different guy who defeated me. Its also a cool touch how there is pre-fight interviews featuring your opponents and newsletter that mention you and your opponent have history. Adds a ton to the game.

Yeah,I like that feature. I beat Andrei Arlovski in a 2nd round tko,and post match he's crying about how the referee stopped it too early. I probably should have elected for the immediate rematch and punished him some more, but stupidly I decided to take the fight against Brock Lesnar. I think we all know how that went.

My new guy's first real fight was a robbery. In the third round the guy slammed me out of the clinch, which rocked my fighter. He threw one punch, which was blocked, and Mario stopped the fight.

I would be far more upset if I wasn't on my way to losing a decision anyway, but I did still have a couple minutes to go for the KO!

I'm working on a new Lightweight career on Expert now.

MT/BJJ - with great ground and pound and submissions. I'm now 4-0 with 4 submissions. I'm submitting my partner in training each time now, which is giving me decent points. I'm sinking things into Sub-Off, and ground striking right now. I'll start making him more all-around in a bit, but for right now I'm going purely to take people down, and submit them. That of course, won't work when I get my first real fight - so before I do that I'll work my standing game a bit

I'm (hopefully) about to pull a Braddock (Cinderella Man) type finish to a storybook run I've had. It's 2014 and I'm ranked third in the welterweight division. I face Matt Hughes and for the second time against him, lose....

I then face Jon Fitch....and lose.

I then face Diego Sanchez...and lose.

By this time, I figure I'm pushing back down the ladder, but then turn things around with a win against The Irish Hand Grenade and then another against Matt Serra. I rematch against Jon Fitch and beat him and get a shot at Ben Saunders. I win AGAIN and face the number 2 ranked Diego Sanchez and knock him out with 30 seconds left with a decision that could have gone either way narrowly avoided.

A stroke of luck happens now and Koscheck (who I beat when I was coming up the first time) beats GSP for the title (he's held it pretty much since my career has started) and THAT'S my next fight.

It has been a really fun time doing this career and I'll be doing this through all of the divisions....
