I am a bigtime Machida fan, but that fight was a draw at best.

If i were judging, the rounds were 3-2 Shogun, but Shogun's lack of agression hurt him. He should be the new champion, and machida KNOWS he lost.

Machida was very disappointed and seemed hurt by the crowd reaction, hopefully there is an instant rematch and a clear winner will be determined next time.

Shogun is BACK....he wasn't tired one bit and Machida was the one who gassed.

Good technical fight, but we should have had a new champion tonite.

One thing is for sure though.....The Machida aura and mystique is DEAD. He's human after all. Hopefully this humbling experience will make him perform better for the inevitable rematch with Shogun.

EDIT: After seeing Rua's lockerrom reaction, Machida shoulda pulled a Rampage and handed Rua the belt. It sucks to see someone pour his soul into a fight like this and get robbed. Machida knows he was bettered tonite.

Fixed much? That was a terrible decision. I'd love to see what 3 rounds the Judges thought Lyoto won.

I think I can tell you which:

Round 2 - when he was repeatedly kicked in the ribs and thigh while backwheeling and doing nothing.

Round 4 - when he was repeatedly kicked in the ribs and thigh while backwheeling and doing nothing.

and Round 5 - when he was repeatedly kicked in the ribs and thigh while backwheeling and doing nothing, and then got punched in the face 2-3 times.

Those were definitely Machida rounds.

Wow disbelief... I wanted Machida to hold on to his belt before the fight, but not like this. At the end of the fight I just thought to myself oh dang, Machida gets his first lost. I left the TV on and I just hear "by unanimous decision.... LYOTO MACHIDA!!" I just screamed What!?!?!?

Wow, you even saw Dana go up to Rua and tell him that he won the fight. No doubt about that one...

I just rewound the DVR to check that out. He clearly says it to him twice.

i'm sorry but that decision was flat out awful. Shogun won that fight no doubt. I'm not even a fan of either so i had no bias going into the fight but Shogun clearly won the fight IMO. That was way more clear than Forrest over Rampage. I'm pretty pissed about this decision because Machida continues to be undefeated even though Shogun controlled the whole fight. So pissed about this decision because Machida lost no doubt.

I really think that Machida overlooked Shogun. All this talk about Brock Lesnar after his first five title defenses. Not taking anything away from what Shogun did though, he fought a perfect fight.

I agree...I cringed when he said that abiut the 5 title defenses and Lesnar. Hopefully this will teach him a lesson and make him stop believing his press. His rematch with Shogun , he's going to want to prove the world just like his fight with Rashad Evans.

But man, Shogun is pure class..... what a cruel sport the fighting game can be sometimes

i still cant believe how those judges seriously gave that to Machida, the UFC is typically good with not being biased and giving a guy a decision based on reputation but there is no way in hell Machida won more rounds than Shogun. I'm not even a Shogun fan but i feel so bad for him that he is not leaving with the belt that should be his. The only other decision i can remember being upset about is the Rampage-Forrest but even that i fight i could understand giving it to Forrest but this fight there is no way Machida won.

You all should have known they wouldn't let Machida, their golden boy, clean boy marketing image lose on his 1st title defense. Shogun is a bad boy, just like Tito was and they trying to steer from that image for a while.

I bet Machida won't fight again until March or April.

Like many have already said, while I am a huge Machida fan, and absolutely wanted him to win this fight, he should have lost. I hope they get that rematch sorted out soon.
