I bet Machida won't fight again until March or April.
Lesnar is a champ, doesnt get more bad boy than that. Shogun outclassed Machida tonight. Even the fans in the arena sensed that (were chanting for Machida at the beginning of the fight then chanting Shogun later on in the fight). Maruicio controlled the fight with the kicks, landed more shots, landed the harder shots, controlled the fight. I seriously cannot understand how those judges gave Machida that fight. If they gave him that fight because "you have to beat the champ" then Rampage would still be champ because Forrest didnt beat the champ like Shogun beat the champ.

Such bull**** because Machida keeps that undefeated record and Shogun should be champ right now, he earned it. And i really wasnt a huge Shogun fan but after tonight he earned more than my respect, especially for taking the loss in stride and not complaining. Dana White knows Shogun won that fight, deep down Machida knows Shogun won that fight. That was a flat out terrible decision, no if's, and's or but's about it.

      Re: Machida vs Shogun...UFC 104

      from sherdog:

Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
      Round 1
Shogun lands a left hook that makes Machida grimace. The champion goes to the Thai plum, where he lands several knees to the body. Shogun charges forward and clinches with his foe against the fencing. The fighters separate and Machida blasts Rua with a left kick to the body. Machida lands a hard knee to the body and Shogun dives in for a takedown. Machida easily defends and then slips away from a Rua head-kick attempt. This fight provides an interesting visual: Machida with his traditional karate stance, and Shogun with a rigid Thai stance. Shogun lands a hard low kick and Machida answers with a kick to the body. The first round is an interesting and close chess match.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Machida
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Rua
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Rua

      Round 2
Shogun goes to the legs of Machida to kickoff the second period. Machida lands a straight right that backs Rua up to the fence. Machida steps forward and cracks Rua with a left kick to the ribs. Shogun tries to attack and Machida glides away. Machida gets his movement cut off and he absorbs a hard Thai kick to the body. Both sides of Machida’s body are red. Shogun lands an unintentional knee to the groin from the clinch. Rua attacks the legs with kicks and knees to close the round.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Machida
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Machida
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Rua

      Round 3
Shogun lands a snapping kick to the body and Machida is looking frustrated. The pace slows and the crowd briefly lets the fighters hear it. Machida goes to the midsection with a kick. Machida draws Shogun in and unloads with a right hand. Rua drops levels for a takedown and Machida stops it. Shogun lands two hard low kicks and a crushing kick to the ribs. It appears as Machida has been out scouted in this bout, as Rua is having his way with Machida with low kicks whenever the champion raises his leg to attack. Machida and Shogun exchange and Shogun gets the better of it with a hard-counter right. Machida landed a knee to the gut to start the trade, but was hurt by Rua’s right.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Rua
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Machida
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Rua

      Round 4
The pace slows in the first championship round. Rua lands a kick to the leg and body. Machida slips and Shogun sprints in to score a takedown. The reflexes of Machida are on display as he springs to his feet and stops the challenger’s advance with underhooks. Machida steps forward and is absolutely blasted with a knee to the body. Machida seems content to drop the round as he circles and avoids Rua for the final minute.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Rua
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Rua
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Rua

      Round 5
Both fighters land simultaneously as Shogun connects with a kick to the body and Machida scores with a straight-right hand. Machida sneaks in a right on the chin and a knee to the body. Rua clinches with the champion and referee Herb Dean separates them. Rua lands a standing elbow and a right hand. Rua stays on the attack, but starts to miss wildly as Machida shows the movement that made him famous. Rua dances in the cage and counters a fast punching attack by Machida with a knee.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Rua (48-47 Rua)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Rua (48-47 Rua)
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Rua (50-45 Rua)

All three judges score the fight 48-47 for Lyoto Machida, who takes the unanimous decision. The crowd boos the scores.

I thought Shogun would win the decision.

But, truthfully, personally, I didnt see Rua do much to deserve to be the LH champ and take the belt from Machida.

Shogun landed several leg kicks. The announcers hyped them up wayyy more than what they were actually worth.

But honestly, I wanted to see a draw. Because to me, neither person won, nor did either fighter try to make it known that they won.

It kinda makes me think that Silva would smash this division too.

Highlight of the night. Velasquez smashing Rothwell. Im ready to see Lesnar-Valesquez Two very similiar fighters, but Brock is still winning.

        Machida wants Lesnar??? Yeah right.

I would challenge you to take some leg kicks from a world class Thai boxer.

The UFC literally has no control over the judges. That's all the athletic commissions.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with UFC. If the UFC had fixed this you wouldn't have seen Dana go over to Shogun and congratulate him. It's the bull**** CSAC judges.

This was much worse than Hamill v. Bisping. That was a close split. This was a unanimous bull**** call by three judges. Nonsense.

exactly, shogun had both side of Machida's body red, his thighs were red, you could tell he had a slight limp or at least was not as mobile because of the kicks, his face had cuts. The only thing Shogun had was a some redness on his body from kicks. Machida had cuts on his face, red body on both sides, red thighs, and was moving differently from the punishment from those kicks. What more does Shogun need to do to win other than knock Machida out? One of the worst decisions.

Personally I had it 48-47 Machida (and I can't even remember a time I agreed with judges in a close fight) but am shocked it wasn't a draw or split. I thought Shogun won round 1,Machida won 5 and the other 3 could've went either way.

Cain was a beast. That was really impressive,I thought he'd win but not in such a dominating fashion.

                    Rumble also impressive.

No. Those kicks were huge. Machida had to change his stance twice in the later rounds b/c his legs were taking so much damage from those kicks.

Shogun deserves an immediate rematch, imo. He clearly won the fight.

I'm no UFC fan by any means but me and my roommate were scratching our heads when the decision was made.

I guess there was some sort of technical scoring he did really well in...
