    Re: Machida vs Shogun...UFC 104

I thought machida overkicked in this fight. It's as if he had no other plans to combat Shogun. Everytime he tried to kick Shogun, shogun immediately countered with a mid or low kick.

It was very awesome to see Shogun use that. He "Machida-ed" Machida.

Machida outstruck Shogun with his fists, but the kicks went to Shogun.

I hope there is a rematch very soon. I just want to see what kind of gameplans both of these fighters will use then.

He should've pushed the fight back a month or two if he was still recovering from an injury so he could actually make weight.

Your point here is??? Thats like me saying I challenge you to go a round with Machida.

Machida won the fight. Lets move on. Should Shogun get a rematch? Sure, why not. But get in line.

At this point, as much as I dont really like Silva, hes smashing both of these guys.

Bottom line is that Dana wont put up with the BS for too long. He will make a fight that serves justice to either the people who think Shogun won, or the people who think Machida won, like me.

It was still a nice performance. Yoshida might've been able to stand 5-10 more punches if Rumble was at weight.

              For those wondering...

Judges Cecil Peoples and Marcos Rosales gave Machida the first three rounds, while Doc Hamilton had Machida winning rounds two-four.

Am I the only one that gave Machida 5 and Shogun 3? I've been looking around and everyone has the opposite, even people that have it 4-1 Shogun gave Machida 3. Maybe I got confused somewhere and am remembering wrong. Even switching them I'd still have it 3-2 Machida.

Remember this is a round by round basis, not Pride style where the overall fight is judged.

A horrible decision in one of the most boring UFC title fights of all time. Shogun was royally screwed. Machida did next to nothing and reverted back the "boring Machida." Very glad the fans voiced their opinion after the match, and I'm certainly glad I did not pay a dime to see it. They should do a rematch ASAP.

My point is that you vastly underestimate the damage a Thai boxer's kicks do. Thai boxers condition their shins with thousands of kicks to build up calcium deposits on their shins, effectively hardening them. Those leg kicks aren't for playing around.

I agree that there should be an immediate rematch, but I also don't really want to see it. Like you, I found the fight to be pretty boring. There were multiple stretches of 45+ seconds where neither guy threw anything. And there were maybe three or four good exchanges in the entire fight, otherwise it was just each guy exchanging a single strike.

I can certainly appreciate a chess match, but I'm not a fan of chess matches where guys are so hesitant to move their pieces.

It doesn't matter. Dana literally has no control over it. He's been extremely vocal for years about his hatred of Mazigatti as a ref, and yet Mazigatti still gets assigned to fights by the athletic commission, and we saw how that turned out in the Cain/Rothwell fight.

                          1. Anderson Silva would rather retire then fight Machida, they are friends and he already said there isn't enough money in the world to make him fight his friend.

                          2. Machida next fight is going to be Rampage, regardless if Rampage beats Rashad or not.

                          3. Shogun next fight is going to be Rashaad.

                          4. After the Belfort vs Silva fight, it will be Belfort vs Machida by August.

Where in the world are you pulling 2-4 from? It sounds like you completely made it up.

Listening to Dana during the post fight press conference, it sounds like if he has his way there will be an immediate rematch.

if you're a Machida fan, Shogun fan, MMA fan you want a rematch right away.

Rampage-Machida, Machida-Belfort makes no sense right now. It will cheapen the LHW belt for sure regardless who wins those fights. If rampage/Belfort wins, people won't recognize them as the real champ.

The Machida-Shogun rematch needs to happen ASAP. The only way Machida will re-win his respect, pride, whatever is if he beats Shogun CONVINCINGLY the next time around.

He will walk in the fight with the belt, but he should treat that fight as if he's the challenger.

I want to see a clear winner next time as most do. A good KO from either fighter would make things right again.

Yeah Dana wants an immediate rematch.....however... I gurantee you UFC will find a way to put somebody else before Shogun. Be it Shogun gets hurt in camp, sick, visa problems or something.

And number four is a no brainer. Belfort vs Machida is a huge draw money wise.
