Re: UFC 102: Couture vs Nogueira
I think you're totally underselling it. For me, it was probably the second-best fight in the UFC this year, behind only Sanchez/Guida. Back-and-forth action, electric crowd, toe-to-toe fighting, Couture repeatedly coming back from the brink of defeat. Just an awesome fight.Comment

I wasn't sure if the crowd would come through on the PPV but it really was electric, deafning in there whenever Randy did something, especially when he escaped so many times. Crowd started to boo Nog after the fight but the moment he mentioned Randy being his idol suddenly they couldn't stop cheering, lol, typical audience. No real complaints, loved a ton of the fights, the Vera fight was average at best but otherwise just a really exciting show.Comment

Re: UFC 102: Couture vs Nogueira
Didn't see the PPV but after reading the wrap ups and such I was glad Jake Rosholt was able to get his first UFC win. I like to see the wrestler I have watched in college go out and do well in MMA. Jake and Johny Hendricks will do well in the UFC IMO, both were great wrestlers at Oklahoma State winning multiple NCAA titles.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Final numbers were 16,088 fans for a live gate of $1.92 million and was also one of the top five in Oregon history for a live event so the fans certainly showed up. Now that Im back finally I wanted to mention how weird it is when your sitting there watching the fight with no commentary, its almost like you become so accustomed to hearing Goldberg and Rogan disecting things that when they arent there it feels weird. Anyone else who went and saw UFC live feel the same way? For some reason it really stood out to me when the night initially got going.
EDIT- While watching the post fight press conference I noticed that Dana wasnt thrilled that they didnt sell out making comments about missing on the ticket prices and how he felt they should have been able to sell out. To me thats somewhat strange considering 16,000+ is a pretty big number I thought but compared to Philly it was a little short since Philly did 17,411 in attendance.Last edited by The Chef; 08-30-2009, 03:29 AM.Comment

Its just too bad it ended the way it did. Ed was getting beat up but showing a ton of heart and landing a few shots of his own. Now it looks like the poor guy is going to be out for the next year.Comment
