I feel kind of bad for Mir.

Biggest win of his career - and yet no one really gives him much credit; it's more about Nog being sick and hurt. That's all they seemed to talk about during the fight, too.

Randy has gotta be pretty much done. He was getting dropped repeatedly by one of the weakest hitters in the heavyweight division. Even if he drops down to light heavy, that division is stacked with top fighters who are almost all very good, powerful strikers. Randy's stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Such a good fight. You kind of had this magical feeling that Randy was on his way to making a legendary comeback for the ages, after surviving 3 VERY close calls. Nog looked GREAT. He proved to us all that the Mir fight was just a result of some bad luck with injuries before the fight.

What a great night of fights. Three KOs that combined took less than two minutes. A great arm triangle submission. And a classic fight from two legends.

Oh, and Strikeforce, this is what you do when your main card fights finish early. You show your good prelims. Eight fights tonight, and they ranged from 'fine' to 'spectacular'.

No shuttle launches, though. M-1 has that going for them, I guess.

That's because the Nog he fought was clearly staph'd out and had a knee injury. Judging from tonight, it was pretty obvious that Nog had some issues going into that fight. Hate to pull a Lesnar.. but Mir had that horseshoe and his luck ran out. Caught a Lesnar who gave him the submission and caught Nog at his absolute worst.

I hope Nog gets to rematch Mir sometime.

Seriously, it's incredible how lucky Mir was. He was getting pounded out by Lesnar before Mazigatti stepped in and gave him a second chance. Mir capitalizes and catches the kneebar, and he gets to ride that wave for 10 months because of The Ultimate Fighter.

Then he catches Nog in an incredibly bad condition and rides that win for 7 months until Lesnar just destroys him.

But up until July, he got to ride high for a year and a half because of two fights he had no business winning. Incredible.

At this point it sounds like a Noguiera-Mir rematch would be a step down for Nog. He may be in line for a title shot after Lesnar and Carwin fight.
