UFC & Affliction Merged!
I just read on mmasurvival.com that the UFC and Affliction have reportedly merged. A lot of fighter contracts expired at Trilogy, so they will have to resign them. Fedor will have to choose M-1 Global or UFC, as Strikeforce doesn't want him. Please choose UFC!

Re: UFC & Affliction Merged!
On the brightside fighters will be allowed to wear their shirts again. Wich might actually be profitable as opposed to losing millions per show.
After promoting two critically acclaimed but financially disastrous mixed martial arts cards, Affliction on Friday first canceled its pay-per-view card scheduled for Aug. 1 and then opted to get out of the promotional business, Yahoo! Sports has learned.
The company and the Ultimate Fighting Championship are expected to release a statement sometime on Friday in which it is announced that Affliction will cease operations as a promoter and that its clothing division will become a UFC sponsor.Comment

Probably right. I still don't think we'll see Fedor in the UFC anytime soon. He'll just go and fight for Dream or Sengoku.Comment

I felt Bad for the Fighters who had worked their asses off and the Hardcore Fans that have been waiting for this Event, They Regard this as the Biggest Card of the Year yet its sad to end this way..Its a Total Different situation than EliteXC's Demise, sucks for the sport of MMAComment

Re: UFC & Affliction Merged!
“Well, what can I say? It’s ridiculous. Because (of) one idiot, we all have to pay for that. **** it. Maybe I … I don’t know … Maybe I’ll go to the UFC. It’s ridiculous that this has to happen. I’ve been preparing for weeks now.”
– Gegard Mousasi expresses his frustration to Fight Network Radio over the cancellation of the Affliction: “Trilogy” event (and eventual collapse of the promotion), which followed the announcement that heavyweight title contender and main event participant Josh Barnett had tested positive for steroids. The cancellation hits Mousasi (25-2-1) especially hard, as he was hoping to make his United States debut and add to his 12-fight win streak in a highly anticipated match up against Renato “Babalu” Sobral. Before he can even think of heading to the Octagon, however, he has to finish what he started with the Dream “Super Hulk” tournament. Mousasi is set to face Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (6-4) in the semifinals of the open weight competition on Oct. 6.XBL: DTX3

Re: UFC & Affliction Merged!
I don't blame him one bit for his frustrations. In fact, I really admire it. I assume he still gets paid, yet he is still pissed. Just shows his true passion and motives for fighting.
He's obviously pissed when making those comments so the UFC reference kind of seems impulsive. But, who knows. I hope so. One of my favorite MMA fighters.Comment

Re: UFC & Affliction Merged!
.... I check I threw out Strikeforce not affliction, but I am sure something was brewing between the UFC and Affliction for awhile. Dana's blog and mention of the big meeting was the same time that Fedor and GM were in LA. The UFC has been mentioning Fedor a ton lately, since when do they even acknowledge MMA exist outside the UFC unless they have a deal going to down or its the WEC.Last edited by boxboy99; 07-27-2009, 03:14 PM.MLB the Show - Cubs

Re: UFC & Affliction Merged!
The LA Times is reporting that Fedor and the UFC are "finalizing a deal" and an announcement from the UFC will be Friday:
Seems legit to me, but I guess it should be taken with a grain of salt. But I think everyone who follows MMA knows that Fedor doesn't have anything to gain by staying in low-rent promotions fighting guys who aren't on his level, and I think Fedor knows that too.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
