I don't believe anything those idiots from M-1 has to say...of course they're going to say that, takes the heat off of them for turning down such a sweetheart deal.

I don't think Lesnar can make 205, even if he wanted to.

        Re: UFC & Affliction Merged!

If Fedor needs the UFC to prove his legacy, where are the fighters that feel the same way? I don't see fighters talking his record down the way some fans are, but that's the UFC beer goggles for you. He's the ****, and most people acknowledge this.

I don't believe at all that Fedor is scared of UFC competition. He has done nothing but run through people his whole career. However, it's obvious his management is scared. The whole co-promotion thing is about using their show horse to get exposure on the back of the UFC. Even if he lost in the UFC, at least M1 would rise in recognition to western fans by being put alongside the UFC. Without that, even 30 million dollars and a cut of the PPV revenue wouldn't matter if their horse lost luster.

Co-promotion isn't a horrible idea if the condition are right. The UFC was down with it a few years ago for a Wandy/Chuck fight, but got burned and Chuck got beat in Japan for nothing. M1 isn't PRIDE, but it depends on what the other side can bring to the table.

Who did he ever beat in Pride that was a top fighter in their prime besides Nog and Cro Cop?

Coleman and Randleman were washed up already, might be able to give him credit for Herring and Semmy was about 7 years too late and the rest are mostly cans or people I've never heard of.

Maybe they should've offered an instant fight with Couture, might be more to his liking. Might as well offer him a fight with Kim Couture,I'm sure he'd take that one!

Go beat Lesnar,Mir,Kongo,Cain and Carwin. Then drop to 205 and beat Anderson Silva and Machida, based on the Lesnar comment wouldn't even have to drop to fight Machida.
Cool. I knew that was all Bs. Fedor getting paid that much was laughable. The people that believe this tall tale are the same posters that believe the stadium in Russia tale and Fedor only fights cans myth.

That's kinda the dirty little secret behind Fedor's success. He fought two premiere heavyweights (Big Nog, Crocop), a couple of gatekeepers (Coleman, Randleman, Herring), and a lot of cans. I think someone can easily make the case that the UFC's heavyweight division right now is better than Pride's was four or five years ago. It'd sure be nice to see how Fedor would do against some of these guys, but he's more of a businessman now than a fighter.

And that denial was sort of a non-denial. The M-1 CEO was very clear that he wasn't offered $5 mil per fight guaranteed. And that's probably true. The UFC doesn't guarantee that sort of money to anyone. Even their top stars aren't really guaranteed more than $500,000 per fight.

But the top stars get the bulk of their money from a cut of the PPV revenues of the PPVs they headline, and that cut has been a couple million for some fighters in the past. It's easy to imagine the UFC offering PPV cuts that, assuming Fedor was main eventing for the entire contract, that could have totaled around $30 million including the base salary.

But it's easy to imagine those cuts also not being guaranteed. If Fedor came in and got beat a couple times, I doubt the UFC would have kept giving him a cut of PPVs.

I hope Fedor signs with the UFC, so when brock lesner smashes his face in and keeps the belt we don't have to hear about fedor anymore.

Those M-1 idiots, why don’t they just give Fedor to the UFC because they’ve offered him the best money?

LOL. Watching that fight was the most frustrated I've ever been watching a fight. I expected something epic (because the guy running always puts on a fun fight), but he was trying to prove a point or something and decided to run the entire time....

Is Fedor still making an announcement today?

Now that is funny. If you would have told me that the Starnes/Quarry fight would provide me with some quality entertainment down the road after the fight I would have called you a liar. I would have been wrong.

Antonio Rodrigo Minotauro Noguiera TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Noguiera who Frank Mir was a 2-1 underdog against. Thats just 1 name. Need I continue the multiple former UFC champs that this man has taken down. Tim Sylvia. Andrei Arlovski, Mark Coleman, a prime Mirko CroCop. Much more accomplished fighters than Brock so far. Not to discredit Brock, but every fighter i have named has has acomplished more than lesnar at this point in his career. let him actually defend that belt once. And no he just became champ by beating the champ. Mir beat noguiera who couture *****ed out to. Mir was the champ in that fight no matter how they want to spin it. When Lesnar gets a few defenses under his belt we can anoint him as the greatest then.

I don't want to get into this argument (mostly because Playa doesn't have much of an argument), but I wanted to point this out. Using the betting line and ignoring the actual result of the fight? That's some impressive cherry-picking there.
