    Re: UFC & Affliction Merged!

Yeah, the Fanhouse article talking about it mentioned that it was odd that Fedor has a conference scheduled and the UFC apparently has a separate one scheduled for 2 days later. Seems odd if they were making a joint announcement.. we'll see I guess. Not like there haven't been similar reports in the past.. maybe it's bull****.

That'd be nuts if he came to the UFC.

Not that I really care about him, or like him as a fighter, but I'd like to see all the Mir vs Fedor, Lesnar vs Fedor, etc talk put to rest, and we can instead talk about what actually happened.

Fedor tomrrow = coming to UFC announcment.
UFC friday = how much they're paying him and to announce he'll fight Lesnar at 107 or 108.

Don't get me wrong I'd be amped, but I was hoping he'd go to Strikeforce, dismantle the entire division [Alistar, Rogers etc.] then come over to the UFC and shut it down too finally shutting up his naysayers.

I guess he can still do it just in reverse order. I want him to go to every league and destroy everyone. Like the borg he is.

M-1 Global says Fedor, UFC not close to a deal

Denying a published report Tuesday by the Los Angeles Times, M-1 Global officials told SI.com that Fedor Emelianenko and the Ultimate Fighting Championship are not close to finalizing a deal that would bring mixed martial arts' top heavyweight in the Octagon.

"I can give you a guarantee it's not accurate," said Apy Echteld of M-1 Global, a St. Petersburg, Russia-based promotion and management company of which Emelianenko is an equity stakeholder.

According to the Times' report -- which referenced an unnamed source unaffiliated with the UFC and "with information about the negotiations" -- UFC president Dana White was set to announce the signing of Emelianenko on Friday. The source also said negotiations between the top MMA promoter and the Russian champion's camp were "very civil," and that both groups were discussing details on the pending public announcement.

Echteld declined to comment on negotiations between M-1 Global and the UFC, which are rumored to be taking place Tuesday in Los Angeles. He pointed to a press conference Wednesday in Anaheim, Calif., for "important" news on Emelianenko's fate.

i'm pumped, Fedor will have a huge long time off from whenever he has fought last till 107/108.

The Friday conference will be about Affliction and a possible ESPN deal. Watch.

Lol. More like UFC/ESPN UK deal. So I don't expect a Fedor announcement on Friday.

                          Re: UFC & Affliction Merged!

It looks like the Fedor press conference is focused on him being the star of the EA mma game. They did confirm they are in negotiations with UFC though. You know Dana would love to be able to announce the signing of Fedor on Friday. We'll see what happens.

Edit: Now it seems as if M-1 is going off the deep end about co-promotion. They feel strongly that it's good for the sport. After seeing what has happened to boxing I strongly disagree. If they don't budge then I can't really fault Dana for not getting this done.

There are negotiations about EA's game. Nothing is final?

Smart move by Fedor's camp. Trying to force Dana's hand.

The real news from this call: Fedor is far from being close to finalizing a deal with UFC. M-1 and UFC are far apart
                              .

That's from writer Michael Smith's twitter page who is at the press conference

Yeah, the co-promotion thing is ridiculous. M-1 Global has not put on a single notable show on their own. And the UFC is supposed to let them latch onto their company like a leech and take some of the profits? Just the gall of that demand is incredible.
