    Re: UFC 123 - Rampage Vs Machida - Penn v. Hughes 3

I was really worried that the judges were going to see that trip up at the end of the 2nd round as something more than that, but thankfully they didn't.

IMO Round 1 and 2 went to Page, 3rd went to Machida.

That was awesome when Rampage came back swinging after it looked like Machida caught him in the 3rd. I was also hoping to see that slam in the 3rd, but Machida knew he had to get out of that with the quickness.

Meh. I'm not a fan of Machida at all either, but the fight was close enough to warrant a rematch. Even if Machida was just doing his usual ish in the first 2 rounds.

That 3rd round was exciting though and I think now that both fighters have felt each other out after this match, Machica COULD come out a little bit more aggressive than usual.

On another note, a immediate rematch would be great.

what's the difference between silva dancing around and machido's style? Dana gonna call for machido's head?

In a rematch I have a hard time believing Rampage wins. Machida was gun shy early on and has now taken some clean shots right on the chin from Jackson. In a rematch I would look for Lyoto to take him down more often and just punich him as Jackson apparently cant do anything other then look for the knockout punch.

If it makes any sense, I wished the fight was 5 rounds, but I have no real desire to watch a rematch.

I could see the first two rounds playing out like they did again. Or, it would be Lyoto being much more proactive in his attack, leading him susceptible to a Rampage counter.

Either way, Lyoto needs more urgency in the beginning. He started fighting in the 3rd round.

The only one I can think of is that Machida has a name for his, but Silva just does random stuff and doesn't call it anything.

Machida ran around in the first 2 rounds like Silva with a 3-0 lead.

Rampage definitely won the first 2 and Machida definitely won the 3rd. I'm shocked and really glad that Rampage won this fight.

I'm saying it has the same effect. No action, boring, running away from opponent. Yet, its ok for machido to do.

I would rather have had this one be 5 rounds instead of another 3 round fight. Its like Machida takes 2 rounds to warm up for every fight. He's a stand up version of Jon Fitch.

Please, comparing Silva literally dancing and gyrating around the cage when he proceeds to believe his opponent can pose no threat to him is not even near the same as Machida trying to avoid damage and counter. Machida isnt dancing around and gyrating, throwing his hands in the air in some lame attempt to coax his opponent into storming right at him. These situations arent even close to the same.

I was thinking the exact same thing as the fight was going on. I was wishing it was a 5 rounder because I had a feeling we were headed to a decision.

How is it not the same? Just b/c machido doesn't throw his hands up? I repeat again, same effect, boring fight, running away. What he did is absolutely no different than what silva does @ times. In fact, its actually worse b/c he does it before he even has rounds won
