    Shogun
    Jones
    Davis

Whenever Rashad's name is next in line the injuries start piling up. Now that Davis has ducked Evans for the moment we get to see a rematch I've been wanting for a while. I'm a big fan of both fighters but I want to see Shad get revenge for...

Rashad, you must be prepared for not only Lyoto, but for whatever tricks Master Segal is teaching him.

Awesome news. Not that I'm glad that Davis is hurt or anything. I wish him a speedy recovery. However, I'm just more excited to see 5 rounds of Rashad vs. Machida.

According to Ariel, Machida hasnt accepted yet. On a side note, Tito was offered the fight first and he declined.

Yeah it is really short notice for someone like Evans.

I'm not surprised that they offered it to Tito nor that he declined it lol.

Hopefully he does, I see Evans losing either way though.

133 just went from a PPV that I will watch on the internet for free to one I may make the hour drive up to Philly to see.

Okay now according to Fighter's Only, Machida's manager-wife said he isn't taking the fight.

It looks like Kevin Iole had to clarify his tweet saying White didn't say Machida is in.

                    What a mess, lol.

Re: UFC 133, Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis-- 8/6/11

Mrs. Machida is exactly right with what she says:

Lyoto Machida will not fight Rashad Evans for a second time -- at least, not at UFC 133.

Machida’s spouse, Fabyola Machida, informed Sherdog.com on Wednesday that her husband will not take the place of the injured Phil Davis at the Aug. 6 event. However, the former UFC light heavyweight champion’s wife explained, it was not a one-sided decision to turn down the short-notice fight.

“The UFC called him [Tuesday] to offer him the fight,” Mrs. Machida said, “but after a conference, Lyoto, his managers and the UFC representatives decided it wouldn’t be a good decision for him to fight. It would even show a lack of professionalism on Lyoto’s part to take the fight, having such a short period to train.”

After retiring Randy Couture with a stunning front-kick knockout at UFC 129, Machida rejoined the ranks of UFC’s top 205-pounders. According to his wife, a title shot wasn’t guaranteed if he were to beat Evans. Even knowing this, Machida considered accepting the offer from Zuffa, but used the reason to deny it.

“What he told me is that thinking ‘with the heart of a fighter,’ he would take the fight,” Mrs. Machida revealed. “But his professionalism made him turn down the fight. No one is playing anymore [in professional MMA], everyone is very focused and serious, so it would be silliness to accept. To take the chance to not fight as well as he could if he was prepared, would be giving a chance to unluckiness. ‘Be prepared’ is one of his principles.”

Damn, who is Rashad gonna fight then? I understand where Machida's coming from, but I would've loved to see this rematch.

I also agree that I'm more exited about Machida/Evans.
My bad, I didn't even realize I said Evans instead of Davis. Of course now that Machida isn't fighting Rashad he may have to fight himself since there's really not anyone else out there.

I expect Dana to offer Machida the title shot if he wins plus a lot more to try to get the fight signed though.

Could they push the fight back to the end of September? Or would that be unfair to Rashad and his training cycle

Moussai or King Mo doing anything? Probably gonna have to bring back Keith Jardine or call up Melvin Manhoef or something. Nevermind free on the internet this one is heading for free on Spike.

Mousasi is still under a 2 SF contract I think. He is also fighting in DREAM on July 16th, so I don't think he would do it.
