    Re: UFC 140 - Jones v. Machida- Dec. 10

Oh look, more "Jon Jones is so cocky!!" comments.

Machida is dangerous to anyone, Jones isn't an idiot and he has the best coach in the game. This fight should be good, I don't see anyone outside of Rashad Evans capable of beating Jones right now tbh. Henderson could be interesting though, if he was ready to go 5 rounds which he never seems to be.

I'm more excited for the Mir/Nogueira rematch tbh. I'm a huge Mir fan and although Big Nog is far past his prime, it'll still be cool to see Mir shut his fanboys up again.

Henderson doesn't have the gas to go five rounds. We saw that in his last fight.
His best chance would to get Jones to the ground or catch him with that bomb of his.

Accounts that are in the free program. The UFC app doesn't go live until the 20th.

I just don't know if you can judge his gas tank on a wild brawl like that. Him and Shogun was more of a street fight than an MMA match and cardio really isn't a factor when it goes down like that. People like to point to him gassing against Jake Shields too, but that was at 185. He went 5 hard rounds with Rampage without ever slowing down, so who knows.

I don't know if he could beat Jones either way though. The guy is just spectacular, and outside of Rashad I don't see anyone really that I'd pick to beat him or come close to it. I still think Machida poses a lot of problems for him though, and this weekend's fight isn't even close to a gimme.

I don't even like Jon Jones, but the cocky comments are ridiculous. I can understand if he comes off the wrong way and you dislike him because of that, but everybody seems to want to read into every single one of his comments as a veiled statement about how great he is.

I don't post these all the time,I just wanted to point out this gem...

Joe Duarte: Right now, Jones is on fire. Even if Machida drank Anderson Silva’s urine, I don’t think he can beat Jones.

You should have heard this interview.
In the span of 10 minutes he made 3 references about how great he is despite only being in the sport for 4 years.
He spoke about how he was only hit once by Rampage and then followed it up by saying "Think about that. Wow!"
Later on in the interview he stated that he had only been hit clean 5 times in his last 4 fights and then ended that statement by again saying "Can you imagine? That's incredible".

Where I think my opinion might be valuable is that I've never heard him talk once, nor read one interview from him.
I also vaguely follow the UFC so I've had little to no exposure to him other than to hear others talk about how great he is.

So I only have this one interview to base my opinion from. I wasn't biased prior to hearing it.
But after listening to this guy yap for 10-20 minutes, I came away thinking he's completely full of himself.
There's nothing wrong with that. Just like there's nothing wrong with me wanting to see him get his butt handed to him because of it.

That's why I like guys like GSP. All class, no talk and completely down to earth.

Ah, I see where you're coming from. He's definitely a bit full of himself, but he's got every right to be at this point. I just thought you were another one of the guys who deciphers every one of comments and gives a thesis on why that makes him a cocky fighter. It's ridiculous, I don't even like the guy but people are just looking for any reason to dislike him.

I'm glad we're getting four prelim fights on Ion tomorrow. I almost thought they dropped the channel on me, but it shows up under WRPX on the channel guide.

Bones sure got a lot of boo's at the weigh in. I don't personally see the whole arrogance thing myself, but a lot of people sure seem to buy into that. I'm not the biggest fan of the guy either, but the way he's dominated guys has been very impressive. Machida is a game opponent and I hope he can make it a competitive fight. His style definitely makes it interesting. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Jones manhandles him like he's done everybody else.

I have seen cockier fighters that Jon Jones. Even Matt Hughes who was supposed to be a classy champion, was very cocky in his own way. All the great ones are, it comes with the territory. Jones has all the tools be the greatest ever, time will tell if he lives up to that.
