Re: UFC agrees to deal with FOX?
Dana just said that the first UFC on Fox fight will compete with the Manny Paq/Marquez fight. The UFC may lose this one.Comment

Huzzah! I get Fuel, though not in HD.(Dish)Comment

Re: UFC agrees to deal with FOX?
Unfortunately the November Fox card is too fast a turnaround for Brock. Or at least that's what it would seem.
That just seems like a no brainer though to put him on the first one.Comment

This Fuel nonsense sucks. Add me to the list of people who don't get it.Comment

Re: UFC agrees to deal with FOX?
Dana and company had to have known this coming in. They had to.
I just have a feeling it'll work out in the end. There's no way they aren't aware of the fact that Fuel is obscure at this point. I'm assuming Dana and company have a plan for this or they know of something.Comment

Re: UFC agrees to deal with FOX?
Saw the whole press conference, here are my thoughts:
- lol at corporate Joe Rogan. He was wearing a Sports Jacket and had his personality taken away
- Loretta Hunt and Josh Gross were in the audience and asked questions. I guess Dana White didn't have the power to ban them from the Fox Studio
- Nov 12th is the first UFC card at 9pm. No main event was announced but based on the upcoming cards, I'm already going to predict a lot of the fans are going to complain about it. The only big fight they can put on is Machida vs. Davis and this isn't going to be enough to please the fans
- UFC retains production on the cards but Fox controls production on the pre and post game shows. The UFC is going to change up the graphics and have a whole new look soon. The gladiator opening is going away. David Hill did say there would be ongoing discussions about production
- It's a 7 year deal and terms weren't disclosed. I read some reports about an opt out clause for Fox but nothing was mentioned during the press conference.
- Despite the big changes to TUF, I still don't care. Having the fans vote on the fights is stupid. It takes away the strategy from the coaches and you will see the top fighters take each out first while weaker fighters will have an easier path to go far in the tournament. I also think it's dumb for the coaches to have their training camp during the taping. If I'm fighter, I wouldn't want to be a coach on TUF. The change I wanted to see was more an American Idol style set-up, where I meet the fighters as they go for the try outs and see them in their homes first. Under the current and new format, I just don't care about the fighters.Comment

Good stuff Van
I tried brainstorming some matchups for the first card and I couldn't come up with too many that would be appropriate.
This worries meComment

I was wondering when UFC was going to change up the graphics. It's been long overdue.Comment

I think we may have a problem with too many cards. There are now 3 full size UFC events in Nov. The Fox card is too quick of a turnaround for every belt but the Heavyweight belt. If they switch Cain/JDS to the Fox card, it guts the San Jose card next week.
I still think its gonna be Brock/Mir 3. Its the only fight that works. You cant headline your first broadcast card with Machida and Davis especially when that could end up being a 3 round lay and pray snoozer.Comment

Re: UFC agrees to deal with FOX?
These are the guys that are available for the Nov 12 card:
Machida, Davis, Mir, Carwin, Bader, Lil Nog, Bonnar, Franklin, Maia, W Silva, Brown, Patrick, Pierson, Bocek,Guida, Hominick, McDonald, and Kim.
Ortiz and MacDonald said they want 1 more fight before the year is over. I expect MacDonald on the Toronto card. I'm assuming Ortiz wants a full 12 week camp so I don't think he would fight on Nov 12th.
Lesnar said he's healthy but I think he would want a full camp too. Dana White on Sportsnet said there was a chance he would fight on the Toronto card.
A potential Nov 12 card could be:
Machida vs. Davis
Lil Nog vs Franklin
Maia vs. Silva
Patrick vs. KimComment

Re: UFC agrees to deal with FOX?
Still thinking about this. No way Dana puts an average card against Pac/Marquez 3. The press would be horrible if Pac does 1.5-2 mil on PPV and the Fox card does 3mil on broadcast TV. Still for the life of me I cant think of a main event that works/Comment

That's an awful card for the type of moment they really need. I say screw it and throw Brock in. He'd be in a somewhat of a win win as he wouldn't have a full training camp off injury, so if he lost it would be excusable.
We need an English speaker to headline the thing, preferably an English speaker with a great personality and skills to boot.
The possible matchups hardly excite me as an MMA fan. I'd definitely watch the Pac fight instead.Comment
