Hendo is a warrior, but JDS would destroy Hendo if they fought.
    He has nothing for him.

If Hendo wants to take a beating they might as well give him a shot. He only wants big fights and this would certainly be one. I don't know who else they can throw in there with Mir still fighting Cain. As long as I get to see JDS put in work against somebody I don't really care who it is. Mark Hunt is my boy too and I'm getting a kick out of the campaign to get him the fight, but I think he should stick to fighting Struve right now.

Hendo would be a waste. If he somehow managed to win, would he defend the title? Anyone with a ground game could just lay on him. The size difference would be too much. He beat an old Fedor, he didn't beat any HWs that have to cut weight to make 265. Unless it was a catch weight fight, Hendo has no business taking the fight, it also doesn't help him get a title shot that he has a chance of winning. JDS would also have no reason to take it unless he just wanted to fight.

I know this was a very long time ago........but Hendo did handle himself well against HW's in pride. I don't think he's gotten any smaller. It wasn't like he was using quickness to hang w/ these guys, more so technique and skill. I'm not sure he's lost those. Would he dominate? Hell no. Do I think he'd put on good fights and hold his own? Yes.

Besides, if you can give Coleman and Couture the main event of a PPV, you can give Hendo a HW title shot.

As a fan of the UFC, I would love to see Hendo fight JDS. Hendo has everything to gain and nothing to lose. The majority of people would expect him to lose because of the size difference and short training camp. Hendo either becomes the HW champ or loses and still goes on to fight for the LHW or MW belt. I actually think Hendo is a little under-rated. He's getting better with age. He has only lost 1 out of his last 8 fights.

As much as I like Mark Hunt, I would rather see Hendo fight JDS.

Who at heavyweight as a great ground game that could just lay on him? Velasquez? That's about it.

Serious answer? Just about anyone after round 3 and he gasses. Hendo's gas tank is not great in his 40's and his TDD and scrambling ability goes right out the windo in the later rounds. See Sheilds and Shogun fights. Shogun is good, but he is not known for a smothering top game, it's Hendo's cardio that left him in that predicament.

Re: UFC 146 May 26 Overeem vs. Dos Santos

Hendo had a well-documented back issue against Jake Shields which explains how he gassed horribly. Hendo probably knew he had one good round in him and had to finish Jake in that time frame. I like Jake a lot but I know who I would take in a rematch 9 times out of 10. Also, Dan Henderson at 185 is a completely different animal then the Dan Henderson at 205+.

And Shogun.. well very few people alive can take the beating that Shogun can take. The sheer amount of damage Shogun took not only against Jones but against Henderson shows that he has an inhumane chin and immeasurable heart. There's a reason why Jones was dead tired too after beating up Shogun. Hendo exerted a ton of energy in the first 3 rounds beating up Shogun that by the end he didn't have much left; makes sense.

I'm not saying Hendo wins against JDS but I would love to see Hendo fight him.

Yeah, his gas tank isn't great, but the talent pool at heavyweight is really thin. I'd favor him against most of the division aside from JDS, Cain, Mir, Overeem, and Werdum. Even then Overeem and Werdum's chins are questionable and Hendo could KO them.

I would prefer him against Werdum, but I agree.
I would probably favor Big Nog too against him though.
He has a chance to KO anyone in the division, but that would be about it.

I wouldn't favor Big Nog. Big Nog got all he could handle from him in Pride. Big Nog is nowhere near that level anymore.

Looks like Overeem is going to use the TRT defense which may be enough of a loophole to keep him in the fight.

Seriously doubt it will be enough. Marquardt and Sonnen were both suspended for failure to apply for an exemption prior to the test. If Overroids isn't suspeneded of denied a license as well, Marquardt and Sonnen have a serious lawsuit against the NSAC for denying them the ability to make a living by not being able to fight. And then letting Alistair off Scott free for the same thing. In fact Alistair should have a worse punishment because after what happened to Marquardt and Sonnen, he should know the process.

Different situations though. One, Marquardt and Sonnen were suspended by different state bodies. Marquardt was suspended in PA (technically not suspended but held out of the Story fight) and Sonnen was suspended in CA.

Two, Overeem is not currently licensed in NV. You are only obligated to apply for an exemption once youve applied for a license which Overeem planned to do in mid April. He only received a one fight provisional license to fight Lesnar and once that fight was over he was no longer licensed.

Overeem's argument will probably be that he just recently started TRT and planned to file for an exemption but did not expect NV to random drug test him before he filed an application. Who knows if that will work but I find it very strange that Dana is willing to wait until almost a month before the fight to decide whether Overeem is in or out of the fight. I have a feeling he may get off.
