I think we all agree with that and that goes without saying. If a rule is in place, and someone breaks it, it's nobody's fault but their own. We all agree on this.

It's a totally different point and topic than someone thinking the weed rule is BS. You can get a TRT exemption but can't do some medical? Like these guys who claim they need TRT to help sustain their testosterone, some people with anxiety or other ailments need medical to keep calm and unwind.

Taking testosterone isnt illegal out of competition. Weed is. I think thats the big difference. I think the rule is BS but that is the reason why TRT exemptions are OK. Also, I dont buy the anxiety excuse. There are plenty of other medications that arent illegal that can help with anxiety issues. The bottom line is guys like Matt Riddle and Diaz like weed. They arent smoking it because of medical issues. They are smoking it because they like it.

If you can use weed legally as medication outside of competition, which you can, then it is stupid to disallow it for competition. Simple as that. If we're comparing TRT and weed it is stupid to allow one and not the other.

You don't buy the anxiety excuse for taking weed? Apparently doctors disagree with you on that. Weed can help a lot of different things like with sleep deprivation for instance. The negative stigma it has is unfortunate. Sure there are other medications that can help with anxiety but weed can actually cure/help a lot of different ailments at the same time. It just has a negative stigma.

Not all states have the same rules. If Diaz only wants to fight in CA where he has a "valid" prescription, then he will be fine as long as he gets clearance.

True, but when he tested positive last time it showed he hadn't taken it in at least two weeks. If you can get suspended a year for that there is something wrong with the rule. And yes, I realize it was a repeat offense.

Again, there are other exemptions in place that make no sense.

Again, I'm not saying Diaz is not guilty. He's guilty as hell. An idiot even, for not being able to stay off weed.

You cant in most states in the US. Its only legal in 18 states. Testosterone is legal if prescribed in EVERY state. Big difference. We arent getting into whether it should or shouldnt be illegal. The fact is the Federal Government and 32 states considers it to be an illegal substance whether prescribed or not.

Diaz wasnt suspended in Nevada because he tested positive. He was suspended because he tested positive AND failed to report that he had a medical marijuana prescription before the fight. He couldve gotten an exemption but he's a **** up (so are his people like Gracie) and he didnt report that he had a prescription. Same with TRT. You can use it as long as you report.

I never said I dont think Marijuana can help with anxiety. What I said was I dont buy it as an excuse for why fighters need to use it in or near competition. If a person like Riddle or Diaz truly has anxiety issues, why would you even take the risk? Why wouldnt you take one of the hundred legal anxiety drugs that are available through prescription? Why risk a year long suspension by trying to time when you have to stop taking weed? Thats why I dont buy the anxiety excuse for those guys. If for them weed is just medicine to deal with their anxiety....why not take medicine that the commissions are OK with?

Also TRT is the most overblown "story" in MMA right now. There are 400 fighters in the UFC and maybe 6 (Sonnen, Belfort, Hendo, Marquardt off the top of my head) who are actually using it. Thats less than 2% of the roster. I'm so sick of people complaining about it.

                Great post, Ahol.

It boils down to the law, and there's nothing anyone can do about that. So while I may disagree with it, there's nothing more to argue on it.

As far as the anxiety excuse, well I'm sure weed has been a culture for some of these guys since they were young. They know how weed reacts to their body chemistry and they're comfortable with the effects. I have no doubt in my mind that it helps Diaz immensely. If he didn't have weed I think he'd be a lunatic or even dead. Honestly. Now if you have him switch to some other drug, who knows how his body reacts to it.

As far as the TRT case goes, well Dana went on record and said he thinks guys should retire if they have to keep taking it. So I'm with Dana on this. Besides that, the point isn't that lots of guys are using TRT, the point is it shouldn't be allowed in the first place.

Anyway, let's just enjoy these fights

Good thing they didn't test before the conference.

Diaz rocking the Pride shirt at weigh ins. Word. And lol @ his little elbow shove to GSP's arm followed by double strongman poses by both guys.

That's definitely true, I guess I'm more pumped to see what happens after the fight haha. I do want to see if Diaz gets close to a sub, since I think we can't look at the Bendo/Nate fight as an exact blue print for the GSP/Nick fight. Nick's ground game is a lot more tricky and slick than Nate's. GSP will be on top no doubt but Nick will look to be active unlike Nate who just got destroyed.
