Re: UFC: Aldo vs Pettis - Aug. 3
Really disappointed because I really wanted to see Showtime fight Henderson again or fight Melendez. There are so many more fights in the LW division. With that being said, I'll happily order the PPV.New York Giants (8 NFL Championships-4 Superbowls )
New York Yankees (26 World Series Titles)
New York Knicks (2 NBA Championships)
Michigan Wolverines (11 National Championships)

Re: UFC: Aldo vs Pettis - Aug. 3
Its unfair to both divisions. If he wins at 145, then also wins at 155, what happens next? Is he going to fight someone at 145 or 155 next? Is he going to try and hold both belts? If he doesn't want to hold both, don't give him a title shot at both. If he does want to hold both, it is going to be a problem for the other fighters as realistically he would only be defending his title 1 time in each division with a small chance for 2 fights in at 1 weight.Comment

Re: UFC: Aldo vs Pettis - Aug. 3
Superfight?
So now each fight between two very good fighters is a superfight?
Because there is no way Aldo vs Pettis is a superfight.
I know you put the "", but still.
I heard somewhere (guess it was the MMA hour) that 2013 will be the year of superfights. I don't know how they can say that.
No superfight is booked.
Silva will fight for a title defense, White said it, so it won't be a superfight.
Aldo vs Edgar was not a real superfight. Edgar was on 2 losses in title shots.
But if they are ultra liberate on the word "superfight", yeah, we can say that Aldo Egar was, Rousey Carmouche is, Henderson Melendez is,...Comment

If you define superfight as a highly anticipated fight between two great fighters than Pettis/Aldo could be considered a superfight.
Also, 2013 could still be considered the year of the superfight. UFC cards have only been booked up to April. There are 7 mos. worth of cards to be booked. Plus a possible New York SUPERCARD which has a high probability to have a super fight headlining.
Finally, who gives a **** what they call the fight? Do you know how many fights in Boxing and MMA have been called "Superfights" or "Fights of the Century" or the "Biggest fight in history"? Tons. Its called promotion. I swear people like you get irritated by the strangest things. Who gives a **** if they called Aldo/Edgar or Aldo/Pettis a superfight?Last edited by aholbert32; 02-10-2013, 01:33 PM.Comment

Re: UFC: Aldo vs Pettis - Aug. 3
If a top guy from one division, goes to fight a top guy from another division, that is a "super"fight imo.
While Aldo/Pettis might not be GSP/Silva Jones/Silva it is still an excellent fight between two of the best fighters in the world.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Looks like the fight is off. Dana just announced that Aldo doesnt want to fight Pettis because he doesnt believe Pettis deserves it. Dana said he is going to pressure him to take the fight.Comment

Re: UFC: Aldo vs Pettis - Aug. 3
Aldo is going to turn a lot of people off by this. It's not his call of who deserves a shot... I'm on one of his biggest fans but if he ruins this match it will leave a bitter taste. Fight who is placed in front of you if you're the champ... And I do believe Pettis is skipping over contenders but it's a fight that people wouldn't mind seeing.Comment
